Who'd actually take their Rolex submariner to the bottom of the ocean.

Get real. I am not taking my $20,000 watch within a mile of the nasty salty ocean.

There is water at the bottom of the ocean. 😯

·

If I own a Freestyle or Rolex and it is rated to be water safe then I’m going in the ocean with it!

·

I'll take someone else's down there. I'd prefer if I didn't need to come along TBH. It's a dive watch. They all belong at the bottom of the ocean. They look much better there.

·

I was hoping someone would catch that. 😎👍

·

Mos def, gotta watch out for the massive Megs that somehow exist that deep tho.....

·

I don’t even wash my hands while wearing a diver..

·

I think if you can afford a $20k Rolex, you can afford messing it up and replacing it. But I’m with you, either take off your watch or wear a GShock before heading into the water.

Why? Why buy watches made of corrosion resistant steel, with ridiculous WR, if you won't get them wet?

It's like buying a Wrangler Rubicon to drive to and from work, never taking if off road.

It’s called risk mitigation. Using your car logic, your car’s top speed is well over 120mph, are you really ever going to drive anywhere close to that on public roads? I certainly hope not. Regardless, it’s my decision on the what I want to do with my watch anyways.🦄

·

Each to their own, but any watch I own with 50m WR or more is getting wet. I pick my watch to suit the situation.

·

Anyone wonder if the.millionaires who dove on the titanium were wearing rolex?

·

Id have no worries sending my Seamaster... No way I'd want to go myself though - wet & cold? No thanks 🤣

All my watches go in the sea or pool ,this is my rolex deep sea , admittedly it's only going 1m deep

·

I'd swim with anything I had rated to 100m or more definitely. Unless there's sharks. Then my watch and I stay dry😂

·

That is what they were built for!

·

My phone is water resistant, I'm pretty sure my watch can handle the few metres I'm swimming to

·

Sad. Wear a dress watch then. A sub for all it's luxury now, as you know, started as a tool watch. It is a finite object meant to be used and enjoyed—not kept in a safe. LOL. Any watch I've bought? I've worn daily and used, I've never. bought a watch or a car, with thought of "resale" value. I buy them to use and enjoy.

·

This thread is hilarious, the takes are great. I’ll throw mine in.

If I had a sub I would wear it everywhere, that said I don’t dive but if I did I think a dive computer is the way to go if you’re doing that.

But for a splashy frolic at the beach, I would absolutely wear said hypothetical sub, just rinse with fresh water at the end of the swim?

If my $30 used invicta can withstand what I and the whatever the heck the previous owner did, I would certainly hope a “high end tool watch” could too!!

Just don’t forget to snug your crown down!!!

·

Love the posts here. Lol. Here’s my take: I went on a family beach vacation recently and took the Sub and my g shock. Thought I’d wear the g shock in the ocean and the sub everywhere else… well, the g shock didn’t get worn at all! I was splashing, rolling, diving in the ocean and had a blast (after freaking out for the first 2 minutes). Did I pick up a few scratches? Of course. Does it bother me? Not at all.

With that said, I do not dive and I have no interest in going to the bottom of the ocean!

·

Why not ?

Thats like buying a motorbike and keeping it in the living room?

Should be "verboten"

·

I used to take my sinn ux off to shower 5000m of water resistance and made of submarine steel. So not me 😂

All my divers go whereever I go. In case i buy a Rolex diver i would start to dive, so that m*faka justifies its price and purpose😂

·

going to the bottom of the ocean? man, did you already forgot what happened last June with the titanic submariner? I don´t even go to the bottom of the bathtub ...

·

Are you talking Mariana Trench bottom of the ocean — 36,201 feet? Or do you actually mean about 20 feet down along a kelp bed?

Kelp bed. 30ftish

·

Not to the bottom of the sea but I've worn a submariner snorkeling a number of times. Just rinse it off with some fresh water at the end of the day and all is good.

·

I take my Seiko or citizen watches into a pool. But my seamaster. Risk management.

Not a millionaire, but I saw footage of the pilot who wore an Omega Planet Ocean

·

If I had a Submariner, I'd wear it in the water, no sweat. Besides, the deepest I will ever go is about 30 feet or so, which is only 9.1 meters. Any watch with decent WR rating could do that no problem. Just make sure the crown is screwed down nice and tight.

If you go in the ocean, just remember to put it under the COLD tap for a few seconds afterwards, to wash the salt off. (Don't use hot water, the steam can warp your seal / ruin your WR rating.)

I'm one of those people who believes you should use things for their intended purpose. I once bought a vintage pellet rifle ("Benjamin Franklin" 1972 model .22 cal.) at a gun show that was non-working; a collector friend of mine said, "Don't touch it, hang it on the wall as-is. It'll be worth more." My reply: like Hell I will. 😎 I sent it off to Baker Airguns, who specialize in restoration of those guns, and when I got it back, it shot like a champ. It will go to 10 pumps, supposedly; but I am only strong enough to pump it 9 times, LOL. 🤣 And at 9 pumps, that thing will do 895 fps at the muzzle. That's the equivalent of a magnum springer! (Springer = different type of airgun that uses a compressed spring to fire the pellet.) Usually springers are much more powerful than pneumatics, but this thing is a BEAST. It may be vintage, but it can hang with any modern airgun you'd care to put it up against. I am so glad that I didn't consign this airgun to a life of misery hanging on the wall, unused.

My two cents.
