the spirit is such a underdog. Doesn't brag too much attention in the horology world but it really is fanstastic watch.
Ps we have the same wrist size, and for my taste 40mm is perfect size for open dial watches. I have 39 alpinist, with a kind of closed dial and somehow whenever i look at it, it feels kind a small.
I don't hate any watch, i hate hypes over watches...
Nautilus . It is not pretty watch in any form or color, it is just overhyped luxury watch loved due its price and status. In case that it was cheap 90% of the same guys that adore it would tell you that is ugly tv receiver on wrist with ugly bracelet
Royal Oak, similar story, that combination of shine and screws are simply disgusting in my opinion... the more complication the bigger watch and uglier it is.
Rolex explorer. In case that you remove sign of the rolex no man on earth would look or buy that watch.
And honorable mention to junghans watches. So simple, ugly and out of proportion...
So in that sense i don't have anything againdt thst watches, but i hate hype over them and the reasons behind those hypes.
What brand story Tudor has? Their initial brand story is that those are similar quality and lower price rolexes.
It didn't have, and today mostly don't have unique design language. It uses similar platforms, aplications, and with this retro touch you get fantastic quality retro looking Rolex like watch.
And what is the problem with it? It is problem to those guys who don't like watches, but status symbols. In my eyes Tudor is great buy.
And of course, luxury watch can not be poor man's anything, but in horology sense, in the sense that you need a lot of money and time for one regular rolex, and less money and time for one regular tudor, you can use that ugly and stupid quote: "poor mans rolex" and what? Why that even touch Tudor guys?
Personally i would prefer one black bay instead of Submariner, because off its retro vibe.
