Omega Seamaster 300 or Planet Ocean?

I caught up with a buddy yesterday who wore his beautiful Omega Seamaster 300 "Summer Blue." Meanwhile, I was wearing my Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, so I decided to snap this photo.

Both are arguably iconic dive watches, both under the Seamaster brand. But they are very different watches.

Do you have a preference? Which would you pick?

Can i say both? 🤣

I personally prefer the Planet Ocean, but I'm unfortunately sized out of it unless it goes on a diet for the new year (spoiler: it won't). Still, I think that it's a much better looking watch and more consistent with Omega's design language overall

Younger me would have said Seamaster 300, but current me prefers the Planet Ocean.

You should go in and try on the 39.5 PO. You might be surprised. My wrist is just over yours at 6.7” and I felt like I can pretty well pull off the 43.5 if I wanted. 39.5 wore really nicely.

I’ve got the same planet ocean you won’t be sorry! Same watch James Bond wore in Skyfall.

·

Planet Ocean👍

·

Love the Seamaster 300!

I hear you: for me it's more about the thickness. I don't find that thicker watches sit very well for me. My limit is probably 13mm or so

·

Could you imagine showing up with the same exact watch on. That would have been awkward.

Have to admit, that's what sold me on it.

I like both and I was having a difficult time deciding but at the end I went for PO. I tried both on my wrist and to me the bracelet on the PO feels better and more confortable. And I like how it feels more solid. The thing is build like a tank! I have a 6.5 inches wrist and I have a 43.5 and it still wears nicely due to its shorter lugs. I have to say I made a right decision but once in a while I get this little itch for the SMP300 but I don’t think I need two dive watches in my collection.

·

300. I have a planet ocean. It's a very nice watch but it's fairly thick..

·

I’ve always liked the PO better but it’s too big for my wrist.

Hey friend! Doesn't the PO have an option at 39.5mm?? Still too big?

·

I like the PO, but at 42mm and under.

·

The Seamaster 300 heritage was my choice, but of those two by far the Planet Ocean 👍🏻

Can’t go wrong with either. 😀

Summer blue for me !

Seamaster 300 gets my vote. Love the dial and hands.

·

@T1mberW0lf I owned both, the 300 just has something about it, I have it in a white dial. I have forgiven the dated bracelet, but have invested in an Ω rubber strap too. My PO is the black/orange dial. I will admit the the 300 was part of a bulk purchase of a few watches I made last year and I intended to sell them all to fund a future purchase. Well, ended up selling the PO a few weeks back and I’m keeping the 300. And I’m now considering selling my Aqua Terra too, I find that I am reluctantly taking off the 300 in favour of anything else… It just has this look, it’s a combination of the shape of that bezel resting on that case, with the turned lugs… But that white dial with the indices, the little pop of red font, and the different colour lume is just 🔥🔥🔥🔥

·

the SMP for me. I've always found the 6, 9, and 12 of the SMPO were undersized and didn't fit the watch well.

·

Could not pick. PO skyfall the NTTD and the classic 2531.80 will always be in the box. Adding another SMP soon.

I hate the Planet Ocean from day one.

Why? It’s a superbly constructed handsome watch I can’t believe you hate it.

Both! But the PO 39 would be my pick

300 👍

The bigger and the darker, the better for me. Love my Planet Ocean. Actually, wearing it with a nato right now and I still don't have a problem with its' dimensions. 8" wrist. Not small, but not huge either.

Can we please trade-in the word "hate" for 'not for me'? Example: A wavy, blue dial is 'not for me.' But I don't hate it.

·

Planet Ocean - the Seamaster 300 is not for me... BUT the blue is super-nice. Green ain't bad too.

·

Seamaster.
