I've been lurking for a bit, but its time to introduce myself.
first of all...big shout out to @Ichibunz . He's my brother in law and he put me on to this amazing community.
Like many of you, I've been obsessed with watches since I was a little kid. So technically I guess I've been collecting since the early 80s.
As a kid I remember going to the pharmacy counter at the supermarket and just staring at the Casio display. I begged my mom for weeks until she finally got me my first watch when I was 7. A Casio F-87w. I wore it to bed, in the shower and never really took the thing off.
I wish I still had it, but it's long gone.
From there, I went to swatches, again it was the 80s. I had a bunch from the standard blacked out swatch, to 2 pop swatches to 2 diver swatches. Again, obsessed.
In my late teens, early 20s I moved on to Guess watches. Fashion pieces that were affordable and attainable. A decade later and I was drooling over watches behind glass in Macy's rather than Pathmark.
Fast forward to the early 2000s when I'm in my mid 20s and I got my first mechanical watch. A Citizen NY0040, that I still have. I didn't know a thing about watches, but I recognized the Citizen name from Kaneda's bike in Akira. You know the one. This was a total gateway to where I am now.
I got my first seiko maybe a year or 2 later. A Seiko Atlas which I also still have. This started a long love affair with Seiko.
I've bought and sold many Seikos over the years but the second one I bought, the mighty skx007 will also never leave my collection.
My collection has morphed and changed but I love watches like I did when I was 7.
I've done a lot of collecting since the three you see here and I'm looking forward to sharing it with the community here. I'm glad to be a part of it.
A fan of motorcycles, watches, cars and all things mechanical. A lover of vintage things, with a modern aesthetic.

goes to prove that marketing works a treat. in the late 80s there was nothing out like Akira. Still isn't, if I'm honest.
