It's about time someone bring back the legendary Universal Geneve. Let's make a UG appreciation post and tell the people which model you are looking forward to be revived! Omg I'm so excited ๐๐พ

Awesome news. I love the UG white shadow!
Hoping for a 37" no date Polerouter with a black/silver dial so I can quit saving up for a vintage one.
Don't know the model but given to late great uncle circa 1949 for years of service by employer. Bumper automatic that felt like a jumping bean in my hand when I found it. Ignore horrid perspective, it's ~34mm.
But I want more midcentury everyday elegance like this.
I hope that Breitling sticks to UG's simple and elegant designs and doesn't use this as a blatant cash-grab to pump out fashion watches with crazy overly-busy Navitimer-esque designs.
I would love them to introduce a classic-looking 39mm Polerouter with a date at 6.
Looking forward to a modern Polerouter and/or Shadow!
This piece has my name on it! Maybe not my price tag, but my name is on it... lol. Beautiful design.

Uni-Compax strange name to give a child, did your parents not like you? ๐
I'm going to see where this acquisition goes. Yes we might get to see Polerouter revivals but I can't help being sceptical. Stelux Group butchered the UG brand name with poor models for years and I like to see it to believe that the Partners Group can actually make the brand work this time.
My Universal Geneve collectionโฆ๐ฌ
C shaped Shadow line please
This is indeed huge news!
I'm happy that somebody revives the brand, but I was hoping Guillaume Laidet (Nivada and Vulcain revivals, amongst others) would take it. This would have meant affordable and pure reissues, which is what I want. And I'm pretty sure Breitling won't do that...
I would like to see this 1945
UG -Compur-30 in a 37-39mm version.

Like this one? ๐ฌ๐ค๐ผ
I just hope that Breitling doesnโt f**k this up. If they can do it right there is such a vast back catalogue to pick from.
My Universal Geneve collectionโฆ๐ฌ
Hot dog!!
@Universal_Lee im so excited!
Me too!! ๐ฌ
Will they offer service and support for older watches though? If they don't then I don't really see how it can be the same brand and I somehow doubt they will offer said support...
This one is 38mm and my Sub is 42mm. Not all vintage UG are small.
Gorgeous piece of machinery! I really want a vintage piece that I can pull off. UG myt be the way to go.

There are so many to choose from.. UG is not just the Polerouter or the Tri Compaxโฆ
The manual wind cal 262 and 1106
The microtor 215-218 and 69-1
The bumper 138
And the chronographsโฆ
The list is long. Iโm sure there will one that works perfectly.
Good hunting ๐ค๐ผ
The โdink readership is going to go crazy over this.
Fwiw, articles saying models are going to start in the 10k+ range.
This is what I was concerned about. For many, Breitling is already very expensive. I can absolutely see this UG acquisition being positioned higher than their other models; like how Swatch group does. Sad to say, but I feel that if I am in fact correct, Iโll stick with my Smithโs Polerouter Homage.
Old but Gold .. plated
Had 3 Polerouters and a lot of different UGs โฆ but the Tri Compax or a evil Nina are the one watches that I want to add to my collection

Itโs a lost opportunity imo if they go that way. I think the 2-3k range dress / vintage inspired watch segment is underserved by the Swiss big brands and could use a shake up.
I really hope they release a modern polerouter with a microrotor movement and a new white shadow ellipse in steel. Also, Iโd expect them to position UG to compete with Longines, Oris, and Tudor- at least I hope thatโs where they position it

I hope they keep the PR at 35 tbh
Thank you๐
For once, a brand revival that makes perfect sense.
I'm not sure if Breitling would have anything to do with UG considering it's a company on its own. The acquisition was done by its parent company. Having said that I'd like to see them acquire all the drawing and schematics of UG watches prior to the post Stellux Group models.
But the watch industry has so much Swiss competition now we will never know how good it will become. Worse yet is whether the sacrifices comes with a shorter warranty. Aquastar watches after revival is only covered for 2 years so it remains to be seen how much of a warranty UG will give.
I would love a recreation of the Universal Geneve Golden Shadow (first iteration from 1966). I own one from 1967, that is in a pitifull condition (but I love it to pieces, as it is my fathers watch worn in decades). However, it would be so very nice to have an additional one in a slightly more modern size (38-39 mm). Bonus, if it would also be equipped with a modern microrotor movement. Fingers crossed (go breitling!).
