Macarons! Anyone… another take on SoTC…

MY Gs SoTC…

The approach on this collection was to experience the three movements that GS is famous for…

Spring Drive

Image

My very first Gs thanks to @Edge168n influences and @Mr.Dee.Bater and @BigIona fellow enablers during my first year in WatchCrunch …

9F Quartz

Image

my second GS from Japan a JDm version… also took advantage of the dollar being more than the Japanese Yen thanks economy lol…plus I was obsessed with champagne dials at the time so it was just too darn sexy imo 🥰😁….

Hi-Beat

Image

This was greatly influenced by @AllTheWatches texting me his New Gs and I was like damn it!! I want one too!!! 🤣🤣… and after a back and forth texts with CB the Trio of Gs movement was completed!! Thanks CB always appreciate your input!! And so of all of my fellow crunchers!!

So I hope you enjoy my second rendition of my trio SoTC post… maybe there should be a third 🤔…

Ok more photos of macarons and Gs cuz they are both equally yummy!!

Very sharp pieces - how do they compare to your Omega?

Trying a different approach and looking at it in a different perspective… 😁🍻

Nice trio!

The SBGH273 (hi-beat model w/ blue dial) I feel is an underrated future classic. Grand Seiko's 62GS case, with it's bezel-less design, many sculpted surfaces, and more compact wearing size vs the ever popular 44GS case cousin, is arguably the most handsome case you can buy in this price range. The dynamics and texture of the blue dial on the SBGH273 are more subtle and geared towards revealing their secrets over a longer term of ownership vs loudly proclaiming them upon first impression or in press photos.

I think years from now, there'll be a look back on the GS era of this watch's introduction (in the "GS is a separate company" 2017 - "Introducing the Evolution 9 series 2020") and this watch will stand out as a previously hidden gem that will still be timeless, everyday wearable, and classic many years from now.

Nice watch.

Very very different… fit and feel … but both brands for me defines me in some sense…

Agree! The little nuances it has is just mesmerizing …

Do you wear them as our and about pieces - if so, how resilient are they in terms of wear on the Zaratsu polishing?

It’s prone to scratches but I do baby these GS’ though…they have some scratches but they’re pretty resilient imo for a daily wear…

I aim for a GS one day….but love macarons….reminds me of my wedding in Paris!

I’ve got a 9F quartz. Which do you prefer between the spring drive and hi beat?

The spring drive… the sweeping seconds it’s just fantastic!! Don’t get me Wrong the hi- beat is not to laugh at !! I have The Longines Hi beat Ultrachron and it’s very close to the sweeping seconds hand of the spring drive and I hate to say closer than the hi beat GS … I know… but aside from the movement the Shubun is just gorgeous and sexy!!

Ok i went on tangent a bit but the Spring drive is just great watch innovation hence I preferred it over the hibeat…

Oh man!! Got these at a French Pastry place by me!! The smell of bread and fresh pastries… oh la la!! Sadly their coffee sucks but aside from that the baguettes and and pastries are sooo worth it!!

Awesome!!!!

Great 3-watch GS collection...

Now you need some more color like your macarons...

Awww sooo pretty!! I made a homage of that green one and now I want the real deal!! And that red!! But I might opt for the bamboo style dial in red sbgh269 I think is the ref # … oh Mel why do you torture me so… 🥰

·

You guys are killing me! After getting my first 9f GS I’m hooked and trying to figure out my next move (just don’t tell my wife!😂)

·

Love it! My goal would be eventually to make a gs collection. RN I have a Seiko trio/distant cousins of yours. Great pics

What the heck type of macarons you’ve been eating 🤣

The nasty ones that are like stale, overly sweet bread with a grainy texture.

Louisiana is known for some great food. Macaroons are not on that list. 😂

·

So good!!!!

Nice collection. I am a big GS fan myself, but don't currently own any. 😢 I previously had the SBGX341 with the 9F, but sold it late last year. I plan to remedy this problem this year. Looking at getting an older SBGX063 to get my 9F fix, and I am heavily thinking about getting the Snowflake.

·

Amazing collection of 3 great movements by GS. I was at a boutique earlier and saw a champagne GS similar to yours, very clean

·

can you sell me on the quartz please ? I want to really understand . Its not a replacement for the other 2 of course but is it worth it in retrospect ? i want to be convinced 😁 i know it has to be the right choice in its field

·

This is perfect!🔥 Watches are great and the macaroons are making me crave dessert for breakfast 😋

Yes… for me the quartz gives me the ease of use and grab and go kinda sentiment… and the 9f is pretty accurate as well…

Ok lol… stale bread is not great and grainy unless you make bread pudding that’s when the stale bread rises to the occasion!! 😁
