Did WRUW Motivate You into a New Watch?

I was perusing through the WRUW submissions this morning and came across a Casio MRW-200H that @erikswrist was showing off. As I‘m sure many of you can attest, the watch instantly spoke to me with its ubiquitous simplicity Casio does…oh so well! What did I end up doing? Well…I bought one!

Where has this monochrome beast been all of my life? It’s built like a DW 5600 and an F91W got together in the most carnal way. The case feels tough like a G-Shock…while the generous resin band feels soft and forgiving. The second hand hits every marker with precision. The friction bezel rotates both ways. The hands and markers are easy to read…and has good lume. Plus, the MRW-200H is 100 meters WR!

I bet you’re asking…”All of this must have cost a million dollars!” No sir! I picked it up from Walmart for $21.36!

Has WRUW influenced a new watch purchase of yours? If so, show it to us…or one you want to get.

Oh goodness, those are a lot! But I guess, like you, my new Casio isn’t the only recent purchase fully influenced by this site. @Lemm77, @Candide3693 and @Strapmonster all had a hand in me recently acquiring my Armitron Griffy.

Oh yeah. AND one of those... Lol I'm TERRIBLE

·

Absolutely. I find series I never heard of before and have to go search for them. Which is why I've been trying to stay away from the WRUW thread lately.

·

I haven't been impacted yet by WRUW on WatchCrunch (thank goodness - could you imagine pursuing the watches from @JaeBust 🤑), however, on ## WRUW on WUS it has caused me to pick up the following watches:

For me it's actually worked the other way in-fact. Watches I thought I would love to buy and add to the collection, I've now seen them so many times that I have started to wonder why I like them in the first place and have now crossed them off my list.

So thank you guys, you've saved me thousands 🤣

I will confess though, I still want an Omega Aqua Terra, I still drool whenever someone post a picture of one on there wrist 🤤

I think WRUW allows sharing of the joy of wearing your favourite watch today from your collection with people around the world who appreciates watches. I see so many awesome watches in WRUW, but no it doesn’t motivate me to buy them. For me, the motivating factor is when I have saved enough cash for my next watch.

Yes…two type of watches that I bought was influenced by WC in general that I would have not bothered to research or buy are the following:

The Negroni I am very surprised and pleased with like @ChronoGuy saw someone‘s WRUW and @JaeBust influenced me to get a yellow gshock and after that it’s a downward spiral 😆…oh and these guys @HotWatchChick69 @BigIona and @Edge168n pushed me to my fist GS 😂

I have probably been influenced by what I see on WRUW, but I know discussions and reviews on the site have influenced me by helping me to decide on completing a purchase of a watch. For example, I was on the fence about the Bulova Devil Diver but did wind up getting one after a discussion on this site.

I am really glad I did. I think, based on some comments in the past, I am probably more guilty of influencing, rather than being influenced by, other members on this site. 😂 Hell, it was the comment by @DariusII that alerted me to this thread! 🤣

Well after reading this comment thread I might be shopping this weekend now.

·

I 100% attribute the purchase of my SLGH009:

to @HotWatchChick69 and WC in general.

·

fortunately no, lol. i usually feel in love with wristwatch from youtube video, i dont know why 😍

·

Like @TonyXXX , I actually find the WRUW has the opposite effect on me. I feel sated when i see normal humans wear watches I'm curious about.

@Ichibunz's enamel dial watches all convinced me to get this one:

This is actually what happened when you got rid of that OP for the SLGH009...

So far, many thanks and much influence from our Homie @HotWatchChick69 I sold an OP to purchase a SBGA463.

WRUW put the Citizen Promaster Diver,  Tudor Ranger & Marathon GSAR on my buy list. I can't infuse that much $ into the economy all at once sadly... but these are all on the list thanks to WRUW. Honorable mention is the new SBGE283 GMT. A few excited WC posts have me wanting one now that I have this awesome new diver

You and @BigIona both sold OP's to get GS'es!

And, yeah, you should definitely get the SBGE283!

Sure glad I did it when I did!!  OP prices have been dropping like crazy.

Also, my new Tudor Ranger is the simple 3 hander I wanted that the OP never could have been.

WC often influence my choices but I mostly just show my wife different watches just to hear her say NOOO.

·

I bought that same watch after seeing it worn by a 4 star general at some hearing... damned if I can remember who. But that, or something similar, is how I first discovered that watch.

Dang, that‘s pretty good then!

·

Sorta? I heard about that wind up show on the site, and that's where I got my casioak.

·

I can totally understand what you’re saying. The short time I‘ve owned mine, it hits a lot of the marks for what I consider a nice watch.

·

What do you think of the level of friction on the rotating bezel? To me its a bit light. I worry that if I bump into something while timing, I may lose the bezel position.

Mine is nice and tight. It could be because it’s new. But I was mowing my lawn with it in 104 F weather yesterday and was timing my last 30 minutes because I thought I was going to kick the bucket with heat stroke and ended up knocking it a few times on my mower handle and it didn’t budge.
