Why Not Us?

So I came across this article about watch enthusiasts and the watch industry. It talked about, among other things, how groups of enthusiasts are getting brands to make special editions for them, and I thought ‘why not us?’ Obviously, this would need @Max to be onboard, but assuming for a second that he is…

Now I have no idea how many members WatchCrunch has or how many of them would be interested in something like this, but I thought I’d put it out there. So is a special edition WC watch something you guys would be into? What brands would you like to work with on it? And how much would you be willing to pay?

I believe there is a Watch Crunch GMT in the works from Jack Mason.

Well, that was the shortest lived post in history. I must have missed that.

I ignored it when I saw it, as I wasn't sold on the Strat-o-Timer at the time, but having now seen pictures of the production models, I have more interest.

So is it only available to WC members or something? That was part of what I thought was cool about the idea. I can all too easily see a small run getting snapped up by morons who think they can flip anything that’s “limited”.

I thought a Jack Mason x WatchCrunch is in the works like something around early spring or something??

This is starting to ring a bell now, I guess I just forgot. The watch looks good. Was this their design, or did WC folks have any input? In my mind, it would be something of a collaborative effort. That said, I know how trying to get consensus from a group can be, so maybe it’s best left to the professionals.

I just watched @PeterKotsa's review of the Strat-o-timer, I'm pretty sure I'm in now, if it goes ahead.

Going ahead!! We just got the first prototype photos and it's 🤌

Yes Crunchers get first dibs 👍

Looks good, interested 🤩(very)

·

Very cool looking watch, a watch collecting group addicted to watches getting their own special edition watch is like an AA meeting getting sponsored by a brewery 😂

·

Ahem...

The WC watch already exists 😉

·

What about Ben's Spaghetti Scammetti? I would actually love to own that watch. Just to piss people off.🤣

I’ll take #6 and #9.

Any idea of what the collab is going to cost?

Might have to start putting some funds aside.

Would love to see a CWWC (Christopher Ward WatchCrunch) edition !

Or why not, last year's micros winner Farer ?!

Ok I need to calm down cause Ihave no money for this, but That would be great 🤑

You just blowed my mind !

Formex just completed 50 pieces for the FB group Watch Collectors of California and Beyond (COCAB). It took about 18 months from initiation to shipping and I believe a few remain available for purchase. I had the unfortunate experience of getting my money back after the watch produced changed from the rendering without any prior approval. Disappointing for me to say the least but hopefully not that common an experience.

Thanks for the info. I’m hoping this release goes well and we maybe see something else in the future.

It's gonna come in under $1k

·

I am interested.

·

What sort of time frame are we looking at? I need to start saving.

·

I would suggest a Merkur or Baltany WC WWW version for the vintage crowd. Green lume. Just because we don’t wear modern doesn’t mean we should miss out please.
