If One of You Doesn’t…

If one of you doesn’t buy this Hublot that features the likeness of Omar Bongo, president of Gabon…well I don’t know what I’ll do but you won’t like it!

Seriously, it’s not only a HUBLOT, but it’s got some guys picture on it. And not just any guy, no this is a guy who’s allegedly the president of Gabon which is alleged a country.

Pull out those wallets WatchCrunch and get to work.

How much we talking about?

·

@thekris the guy is long dead...yes Gabon 🇬🇦 is a real country, God Hublot will never cease to amaze with their questionable fashion sense...How much do you sell this beauty for?

·
thekris

3 times the price of that Hublot, so about 2 USD.

There’s a large gap between what a Hublot costs and it’s actual value.

Sadly it’s not mine…yet. And I added a link to the OP so you guys can all bid on it.

·

This might be a collector's item in the future as who knows how long he'll be president. Regimes tend to come and go in that part of the world.

You're way to kind, I would have to be paid and taken into witness protection to wear this...

He died...but his son took over...

·

And there you have it...Black Widow was right.

You have piqued my interest

·

I hate that I love it. Can someone immortalised me in a watch?

I'd much rather like a Casio. Maybe someone can modify the module of a cheap digital and create some sort of ASCII art of my face and make it display at the push of a button.

Let's do this WatchCrunch!

·

Why did they put a picture of George Jefferson there? Someone movin' on up?

Are you suggesting that Gabon isn’t a shining example of political stability? Shows what you know.

·
thekris

I just saw that!

Awful, but not surprising

·

Just checking in to see that @SpecKTator is two days ahead of me on international news. And to realize that the "keeping it in the family" jokes weren't really jokes.

So is this watch more valuable because of this?

They might have the son’s face on the next Hublot

·

To nobody’s surprise, this thread remains relevant.

An even deeper question might be, what is Hublot a shining example of?

And our country in 2023 is?

See how Hublot is tasteful and relegates the commemorated visage to half of the dial instead of having an indignant display with hands coming out of his face (or crotch like AP). I'd need to try one on before buying online. I'm glad this was appropriately bejeweled to add splendor.

Hold up. I read the listing and it says

Enamelled face of Omar Bongo, President of Gabon, at 6.

I was initially impressed that a six year old would be mustachioed, but that pales in comparison to being President of the nation!

Sometimes in America 2023 I think that a very intelligent, or even reasonably intelligent six year old could do at least as well as some of the mad scientists and dumb politicians we have now.

Put Kwame Kilpatrick's mug shot (former mayor of Detroit) on that watch and you will have a winner! 🤣😂

He was so crooked, he'd steal his own watch from himself.

·
bigben

Id rather have an Invicta with a pic of joe biden,,,oh wait,,, maybe not 🙄

Invicta already makes this watch, in two variations. The one with Biden on the dial is $100. The more popular one without him on the dial is $500 (you saw that coming).

Oh if I buy that. I'm going all in on the culture appropriation.

Cultural A can sometimes be a good thing.

Spiderman deserves no more dignity than he was given, though I was thinking of something earlier that, I believe, also featured an African President. There was a movie explaining the history and I missed it.

Is that even enamel on mother-of-pearl? And no diamonds!

To me in this case, AP stands for Awful Pieceocrap.

·

Another day, another Gabon Bongo dial watch (yawn).

You might give Casio a call. They're already making a watch with my face on it, in two variations. The first variation has my face on it for $100. The second one doesn't have my face on it. It's going for $500. Casio has already thanked me, because they're making a fortune off the second version.

A watch with my own face on the watch face is a weird grail, but OK.

I have a watch with my own face on it. It looked at me so often that it finally reviewed me for a website. It was not pretty.
