SOTC

Would like to share my small collection which I started this August.

It all started with me looking into getting a couple bracelet for me and my wife. After getting the bracelets I wanted something to fill my 2nd hand and started browsing which led me into watches. I got amazed with its history, their mechanical function and mainly how they elevate person's look.

So after doing some research (small watches vs large) I bought Longines Spirit 37mm in Blue. Mesmerized by the dial color and how blingy overall the watch was. Now I was sure that I love smaller watches (6.5 inch/16.5 cm).

My next was month later the Tissot PRX 35mm. Love how it looks similar to VC 222 and was much cheaper. It being quartz made it easy to wear once in awhile and not care about widing it/setting time.

Then I was travelling to Asia and found myself browsing watches in Dubai Airport, where I've spotted the Santos de Cartier M. At first I thought it looked weird and just took a photo of it on my wrist. Oh boy was I wrong, I got slowly mesmerized by the watch and when I got home I visited few ADs to get best price they could offer and ended with buying it.

During my visits to ADs for the Santos, one of them was also a Rolex AD. At this point I knew about the waitlist stories and told myself "why not get my name for the Explorer, not like I would get it". Guess what, after 1.5 month I got the call for Explorer.

Thats my story so far, 1 watch a month. Its getting scary with this pace so I am telling myself to slowdown (even stop) to enjoy the 4 I have. Might only consider 1 more into collection which would be GS (want a japanese watch to see the difference).

Thanks for the long read and happy to be part of this community. Cheers

Very nice simple elegant!

So you just bought a Santos, put your name for a Rollie (granted, it's an Explorer) and got it under 3 months wait?

Dude, you are lucky you're at WatchCrunch. Otherwise there'd probably be riots and what not.

Anyway, congratulations on your buys. Very classy.

Nice collection. That Santos has been teasing me for the best part of a year now. I’m almost ready to buy 😅

Advice is definitely slow down and take time to enjoy these. Let it grow organically. If something comes along don’t hold back but also don’t force the purchases.

·

That is no small collection!

Very, very tasteful.

·

Amazing collection, and so much variety with just 4 watches!

·

Perfect 👌

·

Really gorgeous collection. Please repost if and when you add that GS.

·

Absolutely stunning collection. Well done!

Most of us start out our mass purchases with watches that start out less than the PRX and then slow down and pick up similar, higher priced pieces to what you have. Definitely enjoy what you have and take a breathe, unless of course you’re extraordinarily wealthy!

not wealthy (but all in my budget), been saving money for quite a long time, was time to enjoy on sth and it happened to be watches, im slowing down now

Getting the glares from my wife when im checking watches on the net now 😂

Also didnt plan on getting them so fast, Rolex was for next year or many years after, but could call it unlucky that I got the call so soon hahah

Excellent collection!

I tend to collect much slower -- even though I can afford to buy a watch a month (for a bit 🤣). I usually buy a watch every 1-2 years. It gives me time to appreciate every watch and think about the next one. I know it’s slow, but it makes each purchase so exciting. I should note, I buy multiple straps per watch and swap regularly. Anyway, enjoy in good health 🍻.

A bit, since they're both essentially GADA watches. Since the Spirit has a quick-release bracelet, you can try swapping it out for various straps to get a variety of looks.

I'm the same way, but I've been wearing and collecting watches for 30 years or so. I imagine I might do the same thing as the OP if I was just getting into wearing watches for the first time today. This hobby can be intoxicating especially if you have the money to buy the kind of pieces he's put together.

Very nice collection!👍It's easy to get caught in the excitement of buying the next one. Just remember to take it slow and enjoy the ones you have. Because the ones you have are really beautiful!👌

Great selection of watches!

Great collection!

How often do you wear Longines? I want to add Spirit 37 for my set too, because it's difficult for me to use Explo1 for everyday without date.

my wife is sharing the santos atm 😁

Good move. When I acquired my first, my wife could care less about watches. However as my appreciation/obsession grew and I acquired my 2nd, 3rd, and then 4th apparently she gained the appreciation by osmosis and dropped subtle hints that she would like one too. I, being fiendishly obsessed, didn't pick up on those queues and she was none-too-pleased... thus I learned the hard way: unhappy wife, unhappy watch enthusiast! So I rectified that situation and she now has two nice watches in her own collection and the universe is in balance again.

·

Congratulations! What a nice start! For many this wouldn't just be a start, but a good complete collection. Recommend taking a break after the GS to spend time and enjoy the watches you have purchased so far. But, then again everyone's collecting habits are different.

I purchased 7 watches this year, and was gifted 1, for a total of 8. Prior to this year, I had only one watch that I purchased 5 or 6 years ago, and went a few years not wearing a watch at all. Realized that I need to take a break, or else I wouldn't be able to enjoy all the new watches in my sudden 9 watch collection.

No matter what, remember to enjoy the watches and not just the purchase of watches :D

·

Its a nice mix, love it!

·

Very nice collection, if you add a GS your collection will be perfect 👌 The most diverse, perfect and yet very wise and thoughtful luxury watch collection I've ever seen.

·

That's a great collection. Well done!

·

Even if someone had unlimited resources, this would be an amazing 4 watch collection. Something for every occasion!

·

Pure class!!!

·

Pure solid man... can't ask for anything more than that. Maybe a Omega speedy and you are Golden!!!
