Curious to see how people approach the quest for their perfect collection.
Some people may prefer a simpler approach, one watch you can go anywhere and do anything with - one true GADA as it’s been coined.
Others prefer the luxury of having a wide selection of choice, like a tin of quality streets at Christmas you’ll always find a perfect one for the moment.
As usual there’s no wrong approach I just personal preference!
I personally have a planned 9 watch collection, with some peices still needing to be attained. It’s a long term project however I am already thinking 10 is a nice rounded number… so we’ll see how it goes 😂
Happy collecting :)

I have a 12 space watchbox so I try to aim to only have that many, I feel if were to have more, quite a few wouldn’t get worn. There’s some in my current collection that I don’t wear often but will never plan on getting rid of due to their sentimental value.
Have a great day!!
Primary collection is currently closed at 9, and I voted accordingly. I don’t count my budget sub collection in collection count, because they tend to be a fun and experimental extension of the hobby. But there’s 12 in the budget collection at the moment.

Yeah totally the same mindset, I want to wear and love all the watches in my collection

Nice! I like the way of making the budget side an area to experiment! I just got a bright orange f-91w yesterday and I love it, don’t think I would’ve spent a big amount of money on a bright orange watch 😂
6 and never intend to move beyond 8. There will be some switching and flipping along the way but at least three of my current line up is never going.
I have six “core” watch box + 1 or 2 out rule with the ones out being sub 2k.

Yeah, I love using budget watches as a way to play and experiment with watches while not spending a lot of money. Some of them I'd give away to friends that show interest in the hobby. The Pagani Design watches fall into this category. This is why I separated them and don't count them towards the collection. But most often I'm wearing something from the budget collection because I only have one of the primary out of the bank at a time. So, strangely, the budget sub collection gets more wrist time on the whole than a single watch of the prime collection.

Nice, I like the approach of having a core watch box!
If I tried to count all of mine I'd probably have a couple more by the time I finished counting!
Over 120.
I have 13. I really only wear 8 of them in regular rotation. I think the perfect collection is 6-8 watches, but I voted 8-12 in your poll because I don't think I'll ever see my total number of watches owned to fall below 10.
I want ALL the watches... but I know that's not fiscally reaponsible... and, Marie Kondo or whatever the clutter lady's name is... has struck shame in me for the hoard... but they do ALL spark joy!
Remove the dash and thats closer to what I have or had, put the dash back in and thats closure to what I want
I don't have a number. Just enjoying collecting.
Ultimately, I just want three watches in rotation. But… we all know how that goes.

Yeah unfortunately we do 😂
The number just keeps creeping up for me (shake of the head)
Over 120.
me too ! I think ii have a problem.
I do have 21 watches (with 4 more in the way), but I do want to reduce it to 12. I currently still not sure which watches I want to put on the cutting board, but there are already a few favorites I do want to keep.
I own a total of 7 watches:
2 display (as in not for wearing) watches being my moonswatch and spaghetti scammeti
2 work watches being my gshock and smartwatch for physical activities and sports
3 core watches for leisure
I fear I might not appreciate/wear all my watches if I went over 10/12 pieces. Already at 6 I can feel I prefer some while others get less wrist time 🤷🏻♂️
Have around 30. Want around 12-15 max. Got two more on way.
I have 11. I bought 10 of them over a 18 month period, which was more watches than I bought over the past 60 years. I like and wear them all but I don’t need 11 watches. If I went slower and more carefully I’d probably have about 6 and be very happy with that.

That cracks me up, fair play mate. Play chess not checkers
Since I do not sell my watches and have been collecting for a very long time, there are too many too much money tied up in adult toys. I need to and intend to buy no more than 3 watches this year.
I’m surprised how many want 15+ watches. ??

Wise Man
Im going through a bit of a Casio digital watch phase at the moment, this has pushed my collection to 14 pieces in a fast pace.
I think i need to save up for the next Automatic Diver or Pilot to keep growth under control...😅
I guess there is no perfect collection size as long as someone appreciates all pieces and tries to wears them with pride...
Better options: A. 1-5, B. 5-10, C. Over 10, D. Other - Please comment.
D. I have over 15 but would like to trim down.
Quality, not quantity.
