Have a brand name or logo ever stopped you from getting a watch?
For me its Orient, I can't look at that logo and not think of Marlboro lol. But yeah, both name and logo are just something that I cant seem to accept on my wrist even though I truly like several of their models and also have a lot of respect for the brand and what they offer.
I also used to not like Christopher Ward, but the new logo is absolutely amazing.
What's yours?

I agree orient should probably update their logo. Maybe just an applied red O like in the crest. (I zoomed in so itโs blurry but you get the point.)

What a great idea. That would be amazing!
It's all very subjective. I absolutely love the Orient logo because it screams cool 60s Japan to me. Tokyo Olympics, the sets in "You Only Live Twice" the Bond film and the Hotel Okura, below.
I dont like the islander and CW ones. I feel petty for the fact im not buying or liking a watch for its logo but in these two cases its simply so.
formex for example just sounds weird imo
i actually like the orient logo a lot but maybe im biased as a german with some amazing crests ๐

Yeah Formex its a common non-likeable name lol. I also dont care for Alpina and Glyicine (and I own a Glyicine, is just that everytime I say that name a detergent comes to my mind)
Many threads about the generic, boring, nature of the Orient Logo. This is a good one.

PS, wear a Formex, you get over the name very quickly.
Once seen, cannot be unseen๐ญ
Nope.
The Orient logo depends on the watch. I've got a Ray 2, and I don't mind the logo on it, being a bigger dive watch. But on something sleek like the Bambino, it's too chunky and doesn't match.
Skurfa and Colorado Watch Company. I can't handle a big logo of words in a rectangle, just looks bad.
Studio Underd0g. The self-deprecating name is already asking for trouble but then you swap out a letter for a number because... we're just a bit quirky that way? The product seems good but I don't think I could stomach seeing that name on a dial every day.
As a kid who grew up surrounded by smoking adults in the 70's and 80's the Orient logo is 1000% the Philip Morris logo, in my mind they are exactly the same and I can never unsee it!
When I see Tudorโs logo, this is all I see. Now you will too ๐
I bought an Oris with a phallic hour hand and love it, so what makes you so special ๐คฃ
I am a sucker for good logo designs. Ones that donโt appeal to me are Edifice, Squale, Islander and the old CW for sure
Agreed 100%
Not on those watches that i liked, no. Well, there are some logos that i dont like. Swiss Watch Company comes to mind. Not sure if this would stop me from buying a watch tho.
For me itโs Christopher Ward, not just the logo itself but how many times theyโve changed it and that itโs shown inconsistently across their line-up. Puts me off completely and Iโm not 100% sure why it bothers me so much!
Iโm not sure I like the big gothic lettering on Grand Seikosโฆ ๐ซฅ
*some* have remarked that the crown resembles female appendagesโฆ ๐
I canโt have a watch where a name like this gets reminded.
And this! ๐๐คฃ๐น
Well,thatโs why i like it.
The Orient only bothers me because its character doesnโt feel aligned with the brand name. It looks like a European crest or coat of arms, but the name appears more rooted to Japan. Be like if I saw a Swiss company adopting Kanji for its logo.
I canโt think of any watch that I was seriously ever considering that I passed on simply because of the logo. But for sake of conversation Iโll say maybe Tissot? I donโt like the font they use on their current logo - would prefer the old T.
Brand names are much the same but Iโll say Christopher Ward. The name, I believe according the founders, was something they just came up with that they felt sounded British. Also when I hear it, it reminds me of Montgomery Ward. They make a nice product and their flag logo is okay.
Two companies I think that have bad/unfortunate names and logos are Swiss Watch Company and About Vintage. Just my opinion of course. ๐
Feels like it belongs on a can of motor oilโฆ
Thatโs why they sponsor so many races lol

Thats hilarious!
It is hard to beat Ali Express when it comes to funny names. Skmei and Phylida amongst others
When I see Tudorโs logo, this is all I see. Now you will too ๐
This is why we canโt have nice thingsโฆ.
