Hamilton Khaki Auto - Bracelet vs. Strap (Versatility?)

Ok...LAST poll before I actually purchase this watch. This is the watch on my 6.75 inch wrist. My last question is, do you think that a leather strap is/can be as versatile as a metal bracelet? I plan on this being my daily wearer so I'd like it to be as versatile as possible. If leather, what colour? Brown or black? I'm SUPER excited to purchase this watch in the coming days. Thanks again for being a part of my collecting journey, it's nice to get opinions from people outside of your normal circle. I'll be sure to do a #NWA post when I buy it.

My vote is for the bracelet, but if you go leather, I would go with brown

Thanks! I'm leaning more for the bracelet too. Personally I think I prefer the black strap but they both look so good.

Leather 💯

Always good to buy with the bracelet and then buy a leather strap. So if you wanted to swap back to the bracelet you have it. But brown leather is great on that watch.

Enjoy that watch!

Cheers!

I have the black strap with this watch, but wish I had the brown.

The black looks fantastic though!

I say both. Buy the watch on the bracelet and swap it with a strap when the mood strikes.

Good idea! Thanks

Always go bracelet. You can easily find leather straps that look/feel right later. It’s harder and more expensive to find a bracelet.

Good point, thank you!

It does!

Where did you buy the bracelet for it ? Mine came with a strap and I want to switch to a bracelet.

·

Always buy on bracelet if available. Aftermarket leather straps are often less expensive and higher quality vs OEM leather. The same cannot be said about aftermarket bracelets with rare exception.

·

Get it on the bracelet, you will atleast have an option for a bracelet upfront. It is a decent bracelet and you dot get aftermarket bracelet for these models, the factory bracelet is the best choice.

The leather strap option is decent too, it is thick and stiff out of the box so it may underwhelm you initially because of the feel. You can always pick up some natos and straps later on, it is 20mm lug width so no problem there.

It is a factory bracelet from Hamilton. You can order from your AD for the model id you want one.

I’ve got mine on NATO at the moment but it’s equally at home a leather strap (brown looks killer) or on a bracelet. It’s a watch that demands strap changes so if you get the opportunity to have all 3 options then I would try and gear up for that. You will probably find it’s cheaper to get the bracelet to start with and add other options later. Buying the bracelet later is always more expensive.

Can’t wait to see it on your wrist!

·

I’d say bracelet, because it’s always easier to find a nice strap after the fact. Field watches like that Hamilton are strap monsters!

Looking forward to the NWA post! Congrats! 🍻

Always get the bracelet. You can always change it to a strap later, and typically after market leather straps are better. Usually.

If you get leather now and you want a bracelet, it’s gonna be pricey. Most after market bracelets never fit exactly perfect to most watches.

I have the Hammy and went through the same decision. I went with the brown strap. My initial impression was why didn’t I get the bracelet. Within a couple of weeks, the bracelet thoughts completely left me and I was all in for the brown strap. This was two years ago, and the Hammy is my favorite watch even more so than several costing many times over.

As an aide, several hours ago, as I was laying out items for today, the Hammy was the first thing laid out, along side my wallet, keys and iPhone.

Always, always, always buy a watch on the OEM bracelet. You can always swap it out for a leather strap, but getting an original bracelet after a watch purchase can be impossible.

·

Buy the bracelet because any and al aftermarket straps look awesome on it. Have one myself and wish I had a bracelet, but love a NATO or leather in it. Enjoy regardless!

·

I have mine on a black, but I also own the bracelet. You're going to be happy no matter what, great watch. But the bracelet has some heft.

·

Always buy the bracelet with the watch whenever the option exists. Finding an OEM or other suitable bracelet after the fact is time consuming and expensive.

·

Purchase in bracelet because it's hard to find an official hammy bracelet for a good price later. It's much easier to find fun leather or cloth straps to swap out

·

I bought it on a brown leather strap, and currently have it on a black canvas strap. I recently tried the bracelet on my 6.25" wrist and it fit well, but requires me to email my purchase request in then phone with a CC number... which is inconvenient considering they sell their leather straps directly off their website

·

I have to admit the leather looks better on your wrist. That being said, buy both color straps and the bracelet.. You will be happy you did.

·

My Hamilton Khaki is my favorite watch, but I only like it in leather strap (for me brown looks better) or NATO strap. This watch in bracelet is not for me.

I work at a manufacturing plant that produced printing ink. Water resistence be damned, I just need it to clean up well. I keep Khaki Ti on a black silicone strap. It's the watch that gets the most wrist time, but man. That glare from the sapphire crystal and the off-black-brow-grey dial color is annoying at time. It is the most comfortable watch I have, but the most irritating as far as legibility.

I agree I think it looks better on a leather strap. I actually ended up ordering it on the black leather strap, I was so torn. I’m definitely going to pick up the brown leather strap for it too though.

Go bracelet and you can get a strap later it’s strap monster but bracelet can’t get after will be expensive I did the same with my Hamilton
