Battle time!

I am a tudor fan boy. To me tudor can do no wrong! But is it worth the almost 2 thousand dollar price difference from the Monta? Unfortunately I've never had the chance to hold a Monta but I've heard many positive things about it especially that bracelet. Which one would you guys choose?

Tudor all day long for me.

·

I don't like snowflake hands or a date at 3 O'clock, but would still choose the Tudor. Because it's a Tudor. 🤔

I'm shallow like that.

·

Personally, I had not even heard of Monta, but I like Tudor more in appearance - but it is really expensive, if you want a budget solution, you have to make compromises, either in appearance or in quality. If I were you, I'd get a good Citizen or Seiko top model for good money instead of settling for something average.

·

I would go with the Tudor only because of the colour of the bezel numbers

·

I prefer the look of the Monta, also early Tudor GMT models had date QC issues

·

I would be looking down at my wrist reading Monta (whatever that is 🤣) thinking I wonder what the Tudor feels like again 🤔

Tudor all day long I prefer the crown and the slight chamfer on the main body and the bracelet.

This is different depending on where you are from, as in the UK I can get used Tudors easily but for Monta I would need to buy new so the price difference isn't that much. A Monta ocean king would be around £2400 and a Pelagos is £2.5-3k so the choice is easy. However in the UK I can get CW easily and so the pelagos is about 5-6 times the price of a CW.

Q:What's a Monta?

A:I dunno, what's the Monta with you?

·

Tudor for a true GMG Monta for a traveler’s GMT.

Sorry for Monta that should be caller's GMT.

Tudor....

The only correct answer

I like the Tudor a lot more, in all honesty

I’d say it depends on if you want a microbrand or not. A Monta will definitely not be as recognizable as a Tudor but the build quality is exceptional. But when you do meet someone that knows who Monta is it always turns into a great conversation. No wrong choice imo. 🍻

None cos of size. But the Monta if I had a gun to my head.

The monta looks cool plus I’ve already got the Tudor but the opaline dial one

·

Tudor is too thick. Monta (but I would get Longines or a used Omega Seamaster gmt)

·

I know Monta is a well respected and well made microbrand but when you blow past $2,000 in price, I think the real question is whether the Monta is worth more than the $1,000+ difference with other similar GMT microbrands and independents with similar movements (either the Sellita SW330 or ETA 2893-2 used in the Monta with custom rotor) and specs.

I am definitely not a movement snob and love buying microbrand and independent watches with Sellita, ETA, Seiko, Miyoya, etc. movements but the brand value makes a difference here (support network, in-house movement (for whatever that is worth but gives them an excuse to make it more costly), brand equity/history built over time, etc.).

·

Monta is an excellent microbrand. I like the opaline Tudor GMT best. Tudor is equal or better quality, better brand recognition, better movement, better resale, more likely to still be around in ten years…

·

I have the same dilemma between IWC Pilot Chrono and Laco Kiel 2. Still haven't decided...

How is that even part of the conversation?

·

Echoing someone's answer above about GMT Master 2 being the only correct answer, I hate that Mercedes hand so passionately. So naturally I look at the Tudor dial and all I see is a kid's box full of different shape building cubes... It throws me off even more than the Merc hand. I wish some company came up with a piece that would look more normal.

Tudor all day... Except for maybe that sweet Longines Spirit Zulu Time with the green bezel in 39mm.
