Hey Cruncher, where are you from?

It’s always nice to be in a friendly setting where everyone is in different places from all over the world. The places/countries we come from does influence at times what we like/dislike. However, one this is for sure… we all share the passion for these timepieces and that’s what bonds us all together.

That said, go ahead and reply on this thread and let everyone know where you’re from. It may be an avenue for us to perhaps organize some “get togethers”. It definitely would be nice to meet fellow Crunchers in your area. I’ll start… I’m from Orange County, California.

It’s a small watch world after all (sorry, couldn’t resist).

From Kansas. Mechanical watches just came out here, so no luxury ADs yet.

Citrus County, Florida where watches haven't really caught on yet.

My mother 😂

I’m very familiar with that area! As a motorcyclist, I frequented Angeles Crest Highway all the way up to Newcombs Ranch.

In the OC but as far North off the 405 as you can be and still be in the OC.

My daughter went to GW Law School in DC. She did live in Virginia in her last year. Loved that area!

A good chunk of us post at least a general location as part of our profiles, just in case you were unaware.

That said I'm in Utah, about 40 min south of Salt Lake City

Every once in a while I’ll put on Fallen or Belus (I don’t care what all the trve people say, the post-prison albums are better), but I just can’t suffer Varg anymore.

That said, I’d still take Burzum over Mayhem any day. 😂

I'm just a casual fan of the genre, so I'm not so well informed. I only got only to one record:

But there are a couple of interesting characters and stories.

Oh yes that’s definitely a classic of the genre! If we’re talking Norwegian metal bands in general, my favorite has to be Ulver (even though only two of their dozen or so albums are metal). They’re one one of my all-time favorites in any genre, and every album they’ve ever made is brilliant.

Very True! Malibu Farm Pier Cafe hands out buckets , provides parking & even offers breakfast for morning beach cleanup. It's very cool.

hello from Sydney, Australia. 🏝️

Lisbon, Portugal. But I lived for almost 2 years in Orange County (CA), so I'm happy to see so many former neighbors here.

Hello from Melbourne, Australia. 🙂

Greetings from Andover, UK. Nothing of any cultural significance but I can boast they we have the world heritage site, Stonehenge, only 15mins drive away!

Yo, neighbour! Quick question, do Malaysia-Singapore have import duties for watches? I'm eyeing a Dievas from Gnomon (there is that one Marine Mojave though I wouldn't mind the Marine 500 or Vortex 500).

Oh, from the hillbilly/Bible belt equivalent state of Malaysia, Terengganu (most Malaysians and some Singaporeans know what I'm talking about).

Importing watches to SG only need to pay GST. No other import taxes.

Thank you. My Dievas had just arrived this afternoon from SG to MY. Turns out between ASEAN nations we're exempted from import duties or something, at least stuff from SG coming to MY.

That's a relief to me. I had saved 10% of the sales value just in case but turns out it's not needed.

I'm from Malaysia (located besides Singapore) and fun fact: almost 85% of Malaysian wears G Shock haha!

Can confirm. Kids (or tech savvy/tech-wannabe old folks or the 40+ grab a smartwatch, otherwise it's G-Shock, Casio and their Chinese clones.

Honolulu! And, as that relates to watches, I will never buy a world timer that shows all city names around the dial and then...HAWAII when it gets to this time zone. smh! ;-)

I also live in Oahu (Kapolei). Have you attended any local watch meet-ups recently? I'm eager to meet local watch enthusiast in an event.

Take care,

Jrod.

@Jrodst1050 Oh shoot, there was a meetup in person today. Horology On Tap. I didn't go, but guy's name is Honza who runs it. @honza_hroch on Instagram. I run the Honolulu Redbar group (@redbarhonolulu on insta). We usually do zoom but haven't done one in about a year. Good group of people, however.
