New years resolution is coming, what are your goals for 2024 ?

So now that 2024 is right around the corner, have you set some goals for your collecting journey ? Are you happy with your current watches ? Are you saving for your next grail watch ? Do you plan on reducing the collection or have on real goals for next year ? On my side, I've bought a few cheap watches this year to entertain myself and try different styles, but now I'm aiming for my first over a thousand bucks watch. I have 3 "grails" watch that I'm looking at, first would be the Oris Pointer Date, as I really love the aesthetics of the watch, and the uniqueness of the pointer date complication is superb to look at. My second one is the Longines Zulu time in green & gold, I just love the colour combination and I really enjoy reading a watch on a 24hr scale. Third on the list is the Mathey-Tissot Type XX, I've always been a chronograph fan and it's probably the most affordable type XX on the market, plus M-T did produce them back then. Well see what 2024 have for us, on my side, I finished university, bought a new house and new car during the pandemic, so money is limited, so I'm saving for make myself a nice treat next year(I hope for summer). What are your plans for 2024 in the watch world?

I plan to buy zero new watches in 2024, and I'm currently selling:

  • Ball Engineer III Caring Edition (76/1000)

  • Grand Seiko Titanium Diver

  • Grand Seiko Sport GMT

How's the Ball Engineer III ? Even if there is my profession's in the name, I don't know much about the brand, other than they have funky lume colours

·

Option E: add a nice higher end piece to the collection plus an affordable fun one

·

Me: I just want my @ChristopherWard Bel Canto!

·

That Oris is a phenomenal watch, the looks, the build, the tactile feel. Setting the pointer date is such a pleasure you will wish you needed to do it more regularly than five times a year.

The Ball Engineer series is pretty broad, with quite a spectrum of looks and functions. This particular one is a simple three-hander with date and good water resistance and anti-magnetism. A good every day watch, though one I wore mostly as an occasional dress watch.

I'm a bit of a mix lol. I'm considering reducing by 1, maybe 2, but no firm plans. I'm not buying any watches, but I might build one! (Does that count?)

·

Cross between all 3 happy with the collection at the moment but would consider reducing the numbers for the right watch, just not sure what that watch is yet.

·

Just ordered what I hope is my last significant purchase (Sinn U50). It'll arrive within the first few days of 2024. With this one I'm out of wrist time and I'm looking forward to contentment.

·

I just have a spontaneous approach. Yes i have my eye on several pieces, but time will show if i pull the trigger or maybe something else comes my way.

·

D. Whatever happens, happens... More than likely a few spontaneous buys. Nothing planned, but would like to be a little more focussed. Save for one maybe 2... Who knows though.... 😂

·

Too. Many. Watches. Wanting to reduce but can’t decide what to part with…so probably more like B

·

I'm going to try and balance the ins and outs this year, if I can keep it to +1/+2 I'll be happy. But you never know what's going to come up!

·

I’m 18 hours away (here in Japan) from “a year without a watch purchase”. Trying for stay strong. However in 2024 I hope to add something. There’s a place for a common complication (GMT, Chronograph) or a Swiss watch. I’d like to also sell on a couple watches that no longer see wristtime. Happy New Year of watch collecting, WC people!

·

I'm planning to buy the Zodiac Sea Wolf to complete my Vietnam War watch collection

·

I just want to get my vintage king seiko fixed. It’ll probably cost as much as an entry level watch anyway.

·

I voted B with a caveat that if offered the green bezel sub from my AD I will buy it and sell my DJ41. Otherwise I expect the collection to be rather static in 2024.

·

Solid gold case and bracelet

·

Just going to get an empror tuna this year and maybe a seiko SLA 053 and not sell anything

Once those are bought my collection will be complete except for the sinn T50 I plan to get in 2025 but if the other two get bought and I have the funds before the end of the year I might get that as well

I never plan to buy any new ones...

It just seems to happen....

·

I'd be lying if i didnt answer D

·

I have "just one more watch" to get which will be my first swiss watch, but after that I gotta do the waiting game. I have two grail/goal/dream whatever watches but unfortunatelly I set life accomplishments to the purchase time of both, and those accomplishments (If I get there) will take place in a couple of years.

·

Planning on buying a final Tudor, which will make a collection of three Tudors. Currently targeting the black bay 58 bronze. But it is only available at Tudor boutiques, so I will have to travel to Las Vegas or California to get it. I don’t know if it is a true “grail” but it is a side quest 🧙

·

Not necessarily hunting for the grail. But I do have some specific goals I’m aiming to reach and certain watches to celebrate those accomplishments.
