Seiko, Miyota, ETA and Sellita movements can be found in many different watches, would it stops you to buy a watch if it uses the same movement than a watch you already own ?
I have 3 automatic watches (ETA, Seiko and Miyota movements) + 1 mecaquartz (Seiko) and 1 quartz (Miyota). With the upgrades planned for my collection, I may end up with all Miyota 9000 series watches + 1 manual wound or quartz chronograph.
I wouldn't really be bothered, but all of my watches currently have different movements. I love vintage ETAs for their reliability once serviced and parts availability. I have watches that Darwin would be proud of, as in they share a common ancestor somewhere.
Why would that bother me? I mean I like experiencing different movements and have preferences, but having multiples of movement is no big deal is if I liked the watches enough to acquire them.
It doesn’t bither me at all! If anything, it’s a guarantee that they will all run great as it was by choice and they will be interchangeable incase anything happened 👌🏽

Not even a little bit.
My only concern with movements is that they're from a reputable maker, and not too thick.
I try to keep my collection diverse in terms of brand and movement. So far I haven’t found one that I like enough to own several.
If you shop at below 1-2k chf, you can not avoid Sellitas/Myotas/Seiko/Ronda.
There are however some movements I try to avoid. Like the VK63, Dont like the 24h subdial. Unless the watch looks really good.
No way.
Nope. These all use the same movement, and I have more on the way.

As long a as i like the watch i d buy it regardless of the movement
Eta are work horses and serviceable. Sometimes these in house movements can be a issue and are extremely expensive to work on.
I love it when they have same or similar movement
I really don’t care about movement so as long as the watches look different it’s fine
No.
In fact, I kind of collect Citizen E610, even if some are minor variations.
Ploprof and Globemaster both have the 8900 in it but are very different watches.
Never have I ever been called out with “Hey! You wore a watch with the same movement last time! HOW DARE YOU!!!”
