Listing positive things on "One Watch Challenge"

Well, we're almost there. Tomorrow starts the "One Watch Challenge" and today I want to share and get feedback on the positives of using the same watch for a whole month. (Please help!) ๐Ÿ˜€

1 - Find out if the chosen watch is really a GADA watch for you.

2 - Looking like a normal person when compared to your friends.

3 - Earn the "Wristy", "Wristy 60" or "Wristy 90" badge on WatchCrunch.

4 - If it is a mechanical watch, find out how many seconds per day on average it is delaying or advancing without having a timegrapher.

5 - Have the honour of @Aurelian barrate your chosen watch on a possibly daily basis.

6 - Have the excitement of Sunday morning and seeing what photo challenge I've set for you (you're too 'young' to remember the WC scav hunt).

7 - Experience the joy of being able to take your watch off at the end of the day (because, let's be honest, that one you've chosen is going to chafe like hell).

This scarried me! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  1. But I don't go anywhere. I am not going to start scuba-diving at my age just to discover that my dress watches wither when pitched against the Kraken.

  2. Nobody in the real world notices your watch.

  3. I have them all already.

  4. I do have a timegrapher though. The more interesting question (if I go vintage) would be whether the power reserve lasts the night - otherwise I'd need to set the time every morning.

  5. Not sure, but my Evoque probably got more abuse than any other watch on 1WC last year. It was an easy target. I'll pick something considerably prettier this year, in other words: I pick one of my other watches.

  6. That is scary, because I will look like a complete imbecile. My cheapo phone does not help. Maybe an incentive to get myself an actual camera. Too late to order one from AliExpress, I presume.

  7. Well, in June in England I can cope. Last year I wore a single watch during my July holiday on the continent, and that destroyed its leather strap.

ยท

Iโ€™ve noticed that I come across more details to appreciate when I wear the same watch for extended periods.

Iโ€™m still undecided on what to wear. The FKM I ordered fly my BB58 was delivered to work but I was away at a wedding this week. Might just keep my 58 on the bracelet or maybe throw it on an Erikaโ€™s. Other candidates are U50 on green silicone or Stowa Flieger 36 on green silicone. We shall see!

I see people speculating about the 1WC and having to wear "the same watch for a whole month." My memory is that it lasted longer last year (around 40 days) until WC put you out of your misery.

ยท

Iโ€™m already on it. The Reign of the Ranger has begun. My other watches have been hidden deep in my lair, the Ranger has been returned to its bracelet, and Iโ€™ve hidden away all my straps too. Where once was a collection of twenty watches in two boxes is now simply the Tudor box.

I think the most abused watch was @thekris 's bronze ingot. Yours was hard to find anything positive to say about, what with the lack of contrast, enormous case, and the short hands. Your camera may have actually helped. Every shot was gauzy. It hid imperfections.

I actually re-read the rules post you made to see if there was a 30 day mention in there, because so many people seem to have assumed that.

ยท

Iโ€™m anticipating another 50 days of this

ยท

How does this challenge work? Do I keep to show proof? My gada is my most recent addition to the collection so I might be cheating as it would still be honeymoon phase, I just spent about 3 weeks in a row with it and only broke it to for my dive watch as I went to the beach

ยท

I will not be participating in this years challenge due to ManyWatchestoWearcannotjustWearOne Illnessโ€ฆ

ยท

Btw what do we have to post on day #31

This "last" rule maybe...

11. On Day 31 of the 1WC (notice the prime number theme?) You must wear your watch on the โ€œwrongโ€ or opposite wrist and your WRUW photo must reflect this.

Our mind assumed that uses the watch on wrong wrist on day 31 should be the last task and the end of challenge. ๐Ÿ˜•

OMG! I don't know if I'm able to take too much pressure like that. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜‚

ยท

Don't worry about it.

It's character building ๐Ÿ’ช

Well, my phone last year was so old that it refused to upgrade to newer versions of Android, and in many places (e.g. my university) it would not even work because of that. The camera fit in with that. Last autumn I had enough and I upgraded. Of course, being cheap, I skimped on that and spend just ยฃ100 on the new phone. Its camera is adequate for WRUW, but photography club? Miaow!

ยท

I am ready this time. Soooo ready. And a good thing is to not have to think what to put on.

Let's rock!

I suspect the Mrs. is hoping this challenge will kill my interest in the hobby. Iโ€™m choosing to focus on the positives, like the โ€œyou did it/you triedโ€ watch Iโ€™m planning to buy myself just for participating.

ยท

I love sitting on the sidelines and watching people do hard stuff.

Just a reminder that second place is the first loser. Let the games begin!

I didnโ€™t mind the abuse because I knew it was based on jealousy.

ยท

Ha, I'm ineligible! But here's some more.

437. Freedom from having to decide on watch of the day, saves several seconds and much worry.

438. Not having to set the time in the morning unless watch is junky or one is a fussbudget.

439. Super sharp tan line.

440. Fully break in that band (bracelets excluded) and impart your scent.

441. Re-embrace and revive rotation of your past collections (trucker hats, Nike Dunks, etc.)

442. Maybe finally stop buying watches, at least during the challenge, unless one is truly masochistic and/or dim.

443. Reevaluate life choices

444. Enlightenment from rejecting the vanity of life with this minor mortification.

445. Realize your inner strength, and recognize that you can probably also succeed in those other vices you have (junk food, gambling on cock fights, domestic abuse, huffing jenkem, peeping at neighbor, embezzlement, caffeine, etc.

446. Possibility of hallucinations, euphoria, out-of-body experience.

ยท

I seem to recall @Aurelian being nice to my watch last year. I suppose that's because he knew I had no shot of winning.

As for positives, I got to watch as my nearly flawless dress world timer pick up ding after ding after ding. So now I call it a tool watch and hope that that reclassification salves the pain.

ยท

Positive 1) I chose an Automatic so it won't need re-setting.

Positive 2) a daily decision has been made so I can use that time more productively. Maybe becoming fluent in Latin?

Thanks for the vote! I felt tempted to go Sinn but ultimately chose the Stowa. Going to be weird going a whole month without a diver.
