Lorier Neptune V4 vs. Khaki Pilot Mechanical. Please help me choose!!

Hi everyone! I'm torn between the two... Could I please get me to choose one or the other? I have 6.25 inch wrist Been looking for something I dont have to take off during doing dishes at home, and wear comfortably at the office and casually. Neither watches I can wear in real life, so hopefully if you own one, (or both!) could you please give me some insights :D Here are some of my personal breakdowns of the two.. Lorier Pro: -very pretty (I love vintage style watches) love the oversize crown, love the warmth of a crystal, aesthetically and material-wise i love the watch. -I dont have a diver watch yet and I really would like to own one -bracelet: I dont have any watches with decent bracelet, and by what i see on youtube reviewers, lorer bracelet gets nothing but praise! especially the new version (: Loreier Cons: -Heritage: I love lorier's interpretation of vintage dive watch with their own twist, (which is why im considering this watch) but Hamilton pilot pioneer's heritage is just insane. Hamilton Pro: -Heritage - Size: I have a small wrist, and this would be a perfect fit for me (: -design: i love vintage watches, and the dial is stunning. - I actually have a lot of 18mm straps I can play with, but no 20mm straps ): Hamilton Cons: -no bracelet -manual wind: i dont mind the manual movement as I'll be wearing this everyday and the thought of winding everyday kinda excites me. my concern is that i heard that the crown is too small for some to be wound everyday? Thanks everyone for reading the long post and participating the poll, and I hope you have a great day!

I like the look of the lorier

·

I’d go for the Lorien. I feel it’s a better looking watch.

·

I prefer the Lorier. it's a lovely proportioned watch, very pleasing to the eye.

·

Hamilton.

I'll take a big brand over a micro anyday!

·

I have the Lorier and it is a stunner of a watch and will fit your wrist perfectly

·

If you would have to choose between the Khaki Field Mechanical 38 it would be the Khaki all day every day. But in this case it is Lorier.

·

Def. the lorier better value good bracelet, also heiretage is just a made up value and doesn't reflect a better watch in my opinion

·

I’d take the Lorier. More of an all-rounder look to it.

·

The Pioneer Pilot or whatever is a watch I strongly support even though it costs too much. Meh to pretty much any other Hamilton.

·

Practical concern - washing dishes, go for the bracelet!

·

I had the lorier for a couple of years. great watch. Sits a bit high and the crystal scratches extremely easily. I wouldn't buy it again even though I love the way it looks. There are similar looking watches out there that are better made. I have a Baltic aquascaphe too and the difference between the two in terms of build quality and toughness is huge imo.

·

Both look great but very different between them.... can't go wrong, pick the one you love most. Our opinion shouldn't matter much

·

Well, since it’s gonna be doing dishes (a lovely “reason” to buy a new watch, I may use it myself!) it’s gotta be the Lorier. Pilot watches are simply not made for water!

·

I would go Lorier because of the bracelet.

·

My personal opinion would be the Lorier. It has a charm and character that is wholly unique. Both are great watches but Lorier just captures the golden era of watchmaking perfectly and make wonderful watches!

I have a Hyperion and I purchased a Neptune as a gift. I also have some Tudor dive watches. I have to admit that I was stunned when I opened the box to inspect the Neptune before sending it out as a gift. The Neptune is stunning and my BB58 was jealous. It is a very nice watch.

I do wear the Hyperion often and I have other GMTs. It is quite comfortable and the dial is beautiful and very similar to Neptune. I did have a small problem with the Hyperion movement. Lorier was there and they took care of it without any hesitation.

My vote is for the Neptune.

·

Lorier.

For me the Hamilton is overpriced.

Far as rugged-ness goes, I have no problems wearing my SIII all over the world. You can buff the crystal with Polywatch. Can't argue with the price and just goes with everything.

Lorier Neptune

·

The Lorier has some BB54/58 vibes which k really like. The Hamilton has thst nice structure to the dial and is a bit more independent.

I probably would go with the Hamilton, just to avoid the Tudor comparison.

·

I would go for the Lorier because I want one for myself. The only thing that I'm not a fan of with the Lorier is that chunky crown. The Hamilton is a very nice piece too but for the Hamilton doesn't look very "diverish" to me.

Hope this helps😎

·

Lorier all day. I have a Falcon and it’s the most comfortable bracelet I own. The Neptune really is a thing of beauty

·

I own the Hamilton and have owned the Lorier Neptune and a ton of other Loriers. I would choose the Lorier because of the versatility given it’s water resistance and screw down crown, the hamilton is 100m but is a push pull crown. Continuing with the versatility is the bracelet option which has been drastically improved with current Lorier models. The Neptune has a more common 20mm lug vs 18mm on the Hammy. As for the crystal, Hamilton I think is at a disadvantage because of it’s mineral crystal which cannot be buffed when scratched unlike Lorier’s acrylic (and Lorier privides a tube of polywatch). Of course the Neptune is an auto but that’s more of a personal preference, I actually enjoy winding my Hamilton. Also the difference on the dimensions is also your preference, 36x41x10 on the Hamilton vs the slightly larger 39x12.7x46 Neptune. The lume on the Neptune will definitely blow the Hammy out if the water. And! This is a latest development on the Neptunes, you can have a date option now if that is a plus for you. True the Hamilton has tons of heritage, you cannot deny that but Lorier is carving out a space of its own in the watch sphere. While one can argue that Lorier is riding the nostalgia train, isn’t Hamilton kinda doing the same as of late? I love Pilot Pioneer but it’s a landslide win for the Neptune for me.

Wow, I always thought acrylic and mineral crystal meant the same thing!

I'm happy to hear that you can enjoy hamilton's winding (:

Thank you so much for side by side owner's review, it was so helpful!

·

Thanks everyone for voting / helpful suggestions (:

I pre-ordered the Neptune!

Though for Hamilton Pilot Mechanical, it probably only means that it's staying in my wishlist juuuuuuust a little longer than Lorier...haha

Hope this poll helps those who are contemplating on either of the models!

·

I’d recommend the Hamilton. I’ve never owned/tried on a Hamilton I didn’t like. They are robust, historical and have great designs. In my personal view, the Lorier is an homage-style watch that a lot of other companies also do, and are too similar but not the best homage from the past. I’d always be looking at it and think I wish I had the BB58. But that specific Hamilton is so unique, and is a re-issue of their past watches, it’s more on point for me. Plus if it fits you perfectly, what more could you ask for!

The new Lorier Hydra SIII is next on my list to acquire, but the Hamilton is also an entirely different style compared to the Neptune
