Richard Mille Rafael Nadal Watches

Richard Mille, a brand that many love to hate.

I find them fascinating, so I've started a series of deep dives into various RM families to help me learn more about the ins and outs of this watch brand.

It's easy to just say "I hate them," as so many in the community do. For me, it's more interesting to learn about the tech, design elements, inspiration, and evolution -- regardless of personal taste preferences or all the noise that surrounds certain brands.

I figured the Richard Mille Rafael Nadal collection is as good as any place to start.

I hate them. Yes that was easy. 😋

Great article BTW 👍

·

I hate them, and I hate the fact they sponsor 99.999% of F1 drivers, like, why don't they wear something that's actually relevant to the sport? Instead of some illegible glorified fashion watch

·

I want.

·

I have always thought of them as aesthetically over the top. But reading about the individual innovations each represents, and seeing them within the context of the history and of each other, they have a different impact.

·

I don't hate RM watches, in fact the nerd in me quite likes them. That being said, I cannot completely separate companies from their product strategy and marketing.

·

Very cool and unique design in many ways and a marketing master stroke .You don’t have to be a watch nerd to spot one from across a room…but I think any horological interest has been swept aside in the general backlash against the “I’ve considerably more money than you” image associated with them …being from the uk I think the Americanism for it is “douchebag “…I’d wear a homage to pretty much anything apart from RM (or Jacob & co)….

·

I do like the movement looks cool not much anything else for me

·

I like them, because they are unique and unusual. But still, If I ever got to the level of wealth where I could afford one, I don't think I would wear it, even if I bought it. I would rather be super-rich, rocking along with a £60 Casio Duro, like Bill Gates.

·

I would get one in a heartbeat if I could

🤣🤣🤣 Lol.

·

I'm so going to get kicked out of watch crunch. I can tell. Its just a matter of time. Or I'm going to be burnt at the stake.Lol.

I will be honest. I love rubbish fakes of elitist watches. I wear them as "beaters" for a joke. Because nobody would be taking their rubbish to the tip wearing a real Richard Mille. I know I am not hurting Richard Mille's business, because I would never be considered a potential customer.

·

You might not like the looks but the technology is insane (as well as the price) tech specs to stratosphere levels, fascinating, cheers.

·

I hate them too, but I liked your article, RM is still 🗑️🔥tho

·

Another reason why Federer is the 🐐 🤣

·

Besides from looking like oakley glasses from the 90s and cheap tuning cars had a child: RM are always like someone trying too hard to be cool, but he is not. But he has lots of money and is rubbing it in your face.

·

I love them, because they upset so many. Their anguish sustains me.

It’s a style isn’t it - garish, skeleton, mad colours… I get it.

·

I really like Nadal, he was kind of a childhood idol to me (besides Federer). So I was seeing his RM all my childhood and I started to like it.

As many know, IF I had that much $, burning a hole in my pocket...

I'd wear one to be ornery and poke fun at the watch world as a whole ( #custodesspecial much 😆).

For me it mainly comes down to the $$$... Even were I that wealthy, I'd be spending that amount of coin in other avenues and on other hobbies. (NFA stuff, Blasting Licenses, Fed Explosive Licensing, land, mineral rights etc.)

And I'd only wear it to be obnoxious, and for no other reason.

As with most watches at that end, it's really not useful and/or viable for my daily use. YMMV.

Crazy how they have a G Force complication!!! Love their tech!!

·

I’m a Rafa fan, but not of these watches

·

I don’t care how many actors, musicians, influencers come out of the closet and wear these watches they are still ugly. Sure I would take one and then immediately flip it and buy something else.

·

I don't hate RM by no means, but for me it's irrelevant ao advanced they are, that's not what I look in a watch, I would never wear it.

·

Good to see you back Celine!

·

I'm not sure, I appreciate the design, engineering and quality of them, but they are very unconventional. I guess that's the whole point! I find them similar to some of the Hublot models, which again, I'm not sure of. I tried this recently and it felt odd compared to most of my other watches.

What a great article. Now I know a great deal more about RM watches and their collaboration with Nadal. RM watches are not to my taste but I can see why some people may buy them.
