La Grande Finale!

It seems that the grand final of the #microtournament will be between Lorier (likely to win against Zelos) and Baltic (likely to win against Kurono). It is clear that throughout the tournament, the success stories of passionate watchmakers weighed heavily, making it evident that micro brands are valued (in this order) for their history, design, manufacturing quality, price, and customer experience.

Congratulations to both brands that have managed to position themselves within the preferences of all the Watch Crunchers who participated. Special thanks to @AllTheWatches for organizing this fun and interesting tournament.

And remember... our best watch is the one we are about to buy! 🤣

May the best one win!

You are absolutely right..I just added “likely to win” in both cases…👍

·

Baltic was the heavy favorite (overall #1) no reason to think they’ll lose now.

·

I wasn't in agreement with quite a few of the rounds but I can agree if/when this is the end result.

The Zelos crowd loves to show up late.

·

Shocking.

Was expecting the higher quality micro's to win, but clearly it's a popularity contest.

Don't like either brand myself, but interesting to see how my tastes are pretty much the exact opposite to the majority of you.

Clearly I'm wrong 😭😂👍🏻

I've noticed the primary driving factor on WC as a whole is "maximum design (either aesthetics or number of designs) for minimum dollar," so as far as a popularity contest goes here I'm not too surprised. You could see several people complaining on the "monta vs lorier" about Monta's prices.

Quite an interesting series of surveying this forum if you ask me - and I know you didn't 😉

I agree/ that tracks.

If you’re leaving established brands, and accept the resale hit (or the lack there of) with “Micros” you want the most Bang for your Buck!

To me at lest, this is the joy of “Micros”

·

I can't believe it but pretty much every one of my votes was for the losing brand.

I loved the competition, but neither of these brands do much for me.

C'est la vie!

Of course it's a popularity contest!

It’s still early, should be about 12hrs left of voting

If this is the finals I’m voting Lorier

I think the price bias that popped up in the monta v lorier and a few other matchups (Baltic v Kurono Tokyo) comes from the fact that people are more likely to own less expensive watches so even if the more expensive watch is better/more interesting/more unique they’re probably going to vote for the one they own. A bias that I’ve followed myself through the whole tournament

·

When you think of microbrand, you think Zelos, not Lorier.

·

Yeahh buddyyyy

I own both an Aquascaphe and a Zephyr. I’d give the nod to Lorier. My reasoning is that if you take out the Aquascaphe line you’d have a relatively simple line with so-so movements. Lorier, to me, represents the essence of heritage and watches; Something that can be passed down. Plus they use excellent movements. That being said, the Baltic Aquascaphe is one of my favorite/most worn watches.

·

Just bought a Baltic. I'm voting Lorier haha.

I Have some QC issues and not really happy with the overall build quality/ finishing for the price.

·

It’s gonna be Lorier let’s get real haha

·

Baltic all the way for me.

I honestly thought Kurono was going to hit the finals. Probably price factor was determinant in this case…

I have browsed Kurono site for 20 minutes and I find that Kurono watches are priceless... I don't understand how a priceless object can be influenced by price factor.

·

Lorier’s design and price point should win the day.

Guess who I will be voting for

·

@AllTheWatches deserves a huge round of applause for providing us all a ton of entertainment and a ton of education. I think we’ve gleaned the priorities in voting which is totally fine, we all have different perspectives which leads to vastly different collections, which is what makes WC such a great place to hang. Although we don’t all like the same watches, we all appreciate that others joy in a watch we don’t care for is the same joy we get from the ones we do. Cheers 🍻

Spot on. These two have no claim on being called the best. Both pretty meh actually.

I hope lorier wins

baltic is too popular and hyped imo

Both overhyped brands.

·

Studio Underd0g (also an overhyped brand) was making its way up also but ran out of gas. Traska deserved better luck such as Monta and Nodus. Honestly I thought Kurono was going to be the overall winner.

I tried to gather all possible information of each watch before voting even if I didn’t own that particular brand (I visited specifically the “About” section of each brand when available). So after reading the history and knowing people behind the brand I think these two finalists deserve to be where they are. Are these the best watches? Certainly not, but they are both winners for a good reason. They are the most liked by us.

·

The tournament always has some surprises. I'm not sure anyone would have predicted Kurono Tokyo in the final four on day one. Several rounds did not go as I would have expected (surprising) or as I would have voted (not as surprising). Since I realize those are two different things, because I realize my opinions and bias may not necessarily be the most common.

Of the final four, Baltic is the only brand I did think would make it when I saw the brackets. But moreso because in my view their bracket seemed the easiest to reach the final four. Regardless of how they got there, they deserve the respect they get for making it to the finals.

Lorier actually is one of my personal favorite micros but I didn't expect them to survive their bracket (Nodus, Monta, Furlan Marri and others as potential opponents oh my). But they made it through the gauntlet. So respect to them.

So my brain says Baltic will win; but my heart will vote for Lorier as I personally like them and am an owner of two of their finely made time pieces.

One thing is for sure there are a ton of great microbrands out there, creating some amazing watches. And both these brands should be proud that a bunch of crazy watch people like them so much.

·

It's kinda funny its turning out like this. Alot of my posts I talk about deciding between Baltic and Lorier. Everytime I think of getting a Baltic, I ultimately go back to my Lorier and don't feel the need any longer.

Both great brands, but Lorier has won me over between the two mostly because I think they're a better price point and design IMHO.

Let's see who takes the cup home!

·

Big congrats to both brands! Both unique and great!
