That didn’t go so well!
In my New Year greeting I stated my watch resolution for 2023: I will only buy one watch, if I was offered my waitlisted watch. That went totally not as planned. Ordered a watch on 2023’s first workday and received the watch two days later. I know I’m weak but not even I am so weak that I buy a watch on a whim like that.
The backstory is that I tested the Omega CK 859 early this autumn and found it to be a stunning watch. It’s an homage to Omega’s watches from the late 30s. I seen some variants of original watches from the era, so I’m not fully shure if it is new version of one particular watch or if it has design ques from different models. The case is 39 mm (compared to 37mm as it were). The dial is made from silver which gives it a taupe color. The sector dial is printed in a dark blue color. The hands is also blue. Through the caseback you can see the Co-axial Master Chronometer movement.
My AD has lost his status selling Omega from 2023. I knew they planned for a heavy discount activity of the inventory in December but the only offer I saw was 20% off. Not enough to make me proceed and I didn’t gave it further thought. First working day of the new year I contacted them regarding a bracelet ordered back in September with no delivery date given from the supplier. Guess what, the CK 859 was still available and at a 40% discount and my resolution for 2023 flew out the window.
I’m into vintage but the 30s has been a step too far for me. There is plenty of good looking heritage models available. But I never connected enough to the ones I seen that convinced me to buy one. The Longines Big Eye is an exception that I might add in the future. But this one I think is special. With the CK 859 I now have a watch with the vintage estethic I like but in a solid modern package.
I collect new as well as vintage. I have a weak spot for 50s and 60s Omegas. Besides from those I consider myself allround.

It is. The taupe is reminding of the BB58 925 since both has a silver dial, but not the same. Makes the watch less blingy despite it is new.
