Rolex GMT 116710ln vs Omega Speedmaster Professional

Unfortunately one of these watches has to leave the collection. I was considering keeping the GMT and selling the Speedmaster. What would you do in this situation?

Both are full sets with the GMT being from 2018 (second last year of production) and the speedmaster being a 2023.

If you want/have to monetize, hands down sell the Rolex. If it’s for other reasons, I’d sell the Speedy. You can buy that back again in the future whenever you can/want. No waiting lists. Potential updates/upgrades of the watch vs Submariner most likely staying pretty much the same. This is my opinion..

Sorry the GMT, not the Sub. I thought it was a Sub initially.

Totally Agree - the GMT would be the keeper. It’s a classic and unlikely they’ll ale another similar looking all black GMT🖤💚 but the speedy will be around and you’ll be able to pick one up when the time is right

·

I’d jettison the Speedmaster. If you want it again, readily available. The 116710 is out of production and though they’ll probably come back with an all black GMT, but may be different.

·

I'd sell the GMT

·

I would sell the Rolex and pocket the profit.

·

I’d keep the GMT. It’s discontinued and personally I prefer it over the coloured bezel versions and more under the radar. Man on the Moon watch is everywhere so if you get the itch back you’ll easily find a similar model.

·

I kept my GMTII and sold my Speedy. No regrets.

·

GMT

·

Well, one is a flashy black diver, and the other was selected by the top minds in the world to go to the freakin' Moon!

Food for thought...

·

Gmt

·

Keep the Rolex

·

The gmt definitely looks better on you. On pure aesthetic value keep it

·

Imo the answer totally depends on what else is in your collection and your wearing habits, so without appropriate context I don't think it's possible to say

That said in a total vacuum id choose the GMT, because that's the watch I would wear more

But both are kick-ass watches

·

Based on Omega's incomprehensible pricing strategy, you'll never be able to get the Moonwatch at the same retail price you paid before. Doesn't mean you should keep it, but just some food for thought.

·

Which design do you like more? That’s the way I’d decide.

I had the LN and grew to dislike the bezel font size. It felt very obtuse and moved it on after 1-2 years.

The Speedy is sticking around longer so far.

·

As much as I love the Speedy, it's gotta go. You can readily buy another (at retail even) unlike the out-of-production Rolex GMT.

·

Keep the Speedy. Sell the Rolex.

·

Well, depends on the situation, the GMT would probably bring in more cash but harder to replace compared to the Speedmaster. The speedmaster will be easier to obtain again in the future.

·

Reading the comments the WC is true to it's tradition and is of no help whatsoever 😂.

For the correct answer look into your soul and sell the speedy. 😁

·

I’d keep the speedmaster but that’s just me. They are a really special watch

·

Keep the crown 👍

·

I'd keep the GMT as I prefer the GMT complication over chrono and being an auto and 100m WR

·

Sell the Lamborghini, and keep the Ferrari and both watches😁

·

I would sell a kidney instead

·

Hard choice! But I don't like the maxi-case...so I'd keep the Speedy.
