Apocalyptic one watch

You wake up in a post-apocalyptic world. What one watch do you want with you and why?

When it happened to me, I went with this quartz Wenger. Not sure why, it just seemed fitting.

Rolex Sunjust.

No batteries or parts to replace.

·

Casio ga2100 solar or seiko chronograf panda solar, good watches, Solar charging batteries, water resistance of 200 and 100 meters respectively, stopwatches, the casio is indestructible...

·

My Navigator, with a fresh battery... After the first 60-80 months civilization will either come back, or we will be living in an agrarian society that doesn't require watches for timekeeping.

Image
·

The 5610 of course. There is a chance atomic radio tower signals will still send out, and if they don't it's an indefinite solar quartz watch with really good inherent accuracy and toughness.

·

5610 to start. Then all the free Pateks and Rolexes and such I’ll find along the way. Their former owners won’t mind at that point.

·

Timex weekender so I wouldn't have to worry about being mugged by zombies or biker gang members for wearing a Rolex.

·

Something with alarms and stopwatches I guess, won't have much need actually telling time tho

·

Casio Pro Trek PRW2500

Solar power and multiple functions. Sure, the atomic signal would probably be useless, but all the other functions would hopefully be of great use.

·

Any modern Omega

I'd go for my Seamaster 300 - bought it for that very reason. When the EMP hits from the solar blast all electronics will be fried & normal watches magnetised.... Not necessarily likely to happen during my lifetime, but it is a 100% certainty that it will one day!!!

·

I wouldn’t bother with a watch. It’s not like I’ll need to attend meetings, or catch a bus; and I’m pretty certain I’ll be too busy to worry if my pasta is exactly al dente.

·

If electronics aren't fried from an EMP or other nuclear blast, then my M5610.

Image

But if electronics are fried, I'd have to go with my surprisingly-most-accurate-automatic-watch, my Invicta 1953 - workhorse NH35, SS case and bracelet, 200m WR, timing bezel, etc.

My Casio Rangeman. Solar, Multiband 6 (ok, would this work anymore?! but nice to have anyways), ABC- Sensors

·

Gshock M5610 or Seiko solar prospex diver model sne573 but hoping the cells won't ever die? Hmm 🤔

Then maybe the orient kamasu?

Oh well...

Maybe the kamasu since I probably won't be able to find any batteries after apocalypse right?

·

Hell, that’s a no brainer!! This badass mofo of course! Why? You gotta liven shit up! 😂😆😂

Marathon GSAR Arctic’s

No limit answer:

Omega SM, the one that's all blacked out. Solid build quality, and because in the normal world I'm to scared to buy something all blacked out like that.

Second possible might be a Bremont, good shock absorption for the possible shit-tastic tasks that may have to happen.

Third is any g-shock with solar. It doesn't matter assuming the sun isn't blocked out.

Also has everyone seen the Twilight Zone where the book guy wakes up in post apocalyptic world and breaks his glasses. I imagine all watch stores end up like that for us. Except that one watch brand that you hate. It survives

·

PROTREK PRG 270-1 FIRST with solar and compass. G-SHOCK 5610U second

None. I am confident I would be more concerned with sheer survival than whether it’s time for high tea.

But in this apocalyptic world, the person with the coolest watch is the king. 😉

Kalsota

Rolex Sunjust.

No batteries or parts to replace.

Or if you just want to tell time again without ever needing batteries or a service, you can get this handy sundial ring/ necklace from Nomos (at least it's coming from a watch brand even if it's not a watch).

Casio wave ceptor tough solar. Charged by the sun, no battery, easy to read in any situation and made to take a beating.

·

My trusty Casio 5610 Tough Solar with Multiband 6.

·

An old school Seiko mechancal diver would be my pick. Tough as nails, and reliable too.

Oh no a Hublot ! Haha (sorry Hublot lovers)

Hopefully surfboards and coconut trees and good surf still exists somewhere 🙂 Then a dive watch comes in handy to time tide and swell still !

The trusty G Shock

·
Stjarnadm

My Nixon Regulus SS. It's so dam heavy and solid I could smash any zombie's swede in with it no problem.

How do you like that thing?

·

Well, it's big so it suits me as so am I. Incredibly solidly made, a real G-Shock killer. Plus I think it looks cool. 😁

I don't agree with you folks that say none as you'd be more worried about surviving. A watch can help you survive in such a catastrophic event in my opinion. Probably one would need to move away from imminent danger, and be able to navigate. Even a simple analog watch can help determining where North is. A date complication can help keep track of actual date. I'm no expert but if satellites are still working something solar with hiking features (Protrek?) could be very useful. Or, in Jules Verne's novel "The Mysterious Island", they create a lense out of two watches' glasses and use it to make fire collecting the sun's rays. My point is that it can come in handy in many ways. :-)

I don’t ever remember the Professor’s radio helping to get Gilligan and his crew rescued.

·

I'd like the casio oak solar but I kinda want to look cool in the apocalypse too 🤣 so I'd like a 62mas or Samurai
