Which brand is the most criminally underrated?

Okay, this is partially in jest. But I think it’s a fun poll to post because each one of these brands are, unfairly in my opinion, underrated. Cheers!

Festina, they are so dope 💉

Certainly not Grand Seiko, they're rammed down our throats at every opportunity by YouTubers !! 🤣

Fwiw I like 'em 👍🏻

I was just going to say this haha.

GS gets more than enough love on this forum as well!

Zenith now.. they seem a lot more rare in the wild and left out of discussions generally.

·

Of the three, have to say GO. GS gets plenty of love from the community as does Zenith, but how many people post GOs? If I could only look at one caseback of the three, GO wins hands down.

·

GO!!! They are criminally underrated!!! GS gets so much love from the collector community. I rarely see people post GO’s. And I’ve got a great one in the PanoMativInverse. I mean just look at her!

I like Grand Seiko but I think they've already taken off to the point where they're passed being considered underrated. Zenith seems to be gaining a lot of steam after the Chronomaster Sport. My vote goes to GO as they're still fairly unknown at this point compared to the other 2.

I think people associate Zenith with the maker of TVs

Only in America

·

Of those, I'd say Zenith; hardly anyone ever talks about it.

Seemingly every watch enthusiast online gushes over Grand Seiko.

Agree! GS is everywhere, they are not underrated… GO and Zenith and def underrated brands.

·

Actually, I would argue that Frederick Constant is the most criminally under rated. Their in house movements and innovations are being largely ignored by the collectors.

·

D - none of the above. I don’t think they are underrated. Underrated is not the same as ‘not talked about that often’. I think people who know the brands also know what excellent value they are. In descending order, for me: GO, GS, Zenith. And please do NOT give GO any more love - I have just the one, want to own more, and they are pricey enough without increasing demand!

In the USA it was mostly because they couldn't use their name because of a conflict, I think with Zenith Electronics.

·

Depends on the audience. I think Zenith in general is underrated. However I think the average purchaser (we need to remember that is nerds don’t make up the majority of the market) still thinks of Grand Seiko and Seiko as one and the same.

·

Oh man! They are all criminally underrated! I can't even choose! 🙈

·

Grand Seiko might have had a claim to this title 5 years ago, but now it's definitely Glashutte Original. History, unbelievable craftsmanship, high horological value, stunning esthetics!

·

Non of them imho.

·

I criminally underrate GO and Zenith. They are probably technically great, but I think they look awful so I just don't care.

I agree with you.

Have you seen my short post on Festina?

https://www.watchcrunch.com/ChronoGuy/posts/let-s-talk-about-festina-4370

Hi!

No, I was not familiar with your post on Festina (but did my little research ages ago when I actually bought my first watch in 2008, and it was Festina), great job and summary on the company and some of its jerms!

Sad that Festina now only does sub 400 EUR segment. It is with heavy competition and thin margins, and company to stay afloat need to , from time to time, make something that stand out, attracts interest and makes "bigger names" to sweat a bit.

Excellent points. I can't disagree. I may have been swayed to believing GO is underrated.

Thank you good sir! I love conversing with an open minded, intelligent individual! Have a great weekend!

Zenith has actually been on a rise in the last couple of years.

they look awful? Oh my! Let me guess, you like a rolex submariner look? LOL

·

Depends what you mean. Grand seiko is all the hype in the watch world, but I feel it has less overall rep

Zenith is the opposite, isn't getting as much highlight but is more likely to be known in the non watch world

Admittedly I don't know much about glashutte original so I can't say

Awesome! I own it's big brother - defy 21

GO has always seemed be in the shadow of Lange. While I knew of the brand, I didn’t know history or pk until I was enticed into an AD by the looks of the SeaQ panodate which I eventually got. This brand just never comes up for me.

Zenith on the other hand… I’ve bought a few. The early 2000’s rectangular Port Royal IV’s got me hooked. I feel connected to their part in the race to create the first automatic chronograph. In Europe enthusiasts speak about this brand a decent amount in conversations and I see the brand on wrist, too. In USA… not so much.

For me it would be GO, simply because they are competing in Glashutte with the legendary A Lange. No matter how good their watches are, they would always be considered 2nd best.

Boring is better than ugly, if that is what you mean.

·

I think the secret has been out for a while on Grand Seiko. Zenith and GO seem significantly under appreciated to me.

·

I love GS and a few years ago I would have said them. But gs is starting to become more well known,

I would definitely say zenith deserves more recognition, an awesome brand with amazing history and seems to get forgotten about
