What's the longest (realistically) you've ever gone without buying a watch.

My family and I are planning on going to Orlando Florida from New England sometime in the middle of June we're gonna be driving down. So we're gonna be stopping every once or twice for Food, Gas and obviously hotel stay. Since I plan on doing some sightseeing and watch shopping while down there I won't be buying any more watches. I did buy one watch before we decided to make this trip. Other than that, this gives me three months to save up for something like a watch if I managed to find any down there. I hope to hit some outlet stores that sell watches I'm not looking for anything outrages or pricey maybe in the $200-300? if I can bump it to another $200 that would be better. But with a BD in July I may just wait till then only if I can't find anything while in FL.

But I usually can't go a couple weeks without buying a watch so the next three months will be brutal 😬but whats the longest you've gone without buying a watch?

Since I got addicted its just 4 months 😅

I just bought my first watch since Oct 22. Since I started collecting, that's easily the longest time. Though, to be fair, I've only been collecting for five years.

·

I had a solid 20 year run where I didn’t buy anything new.

Wow that's a long time if you can go 20 years I should be able to go 3-4 months.

About 10 years for me. Was happy with what I had, then the pandemic hit and I bought an Apple Watch so I could unlock my iPhone when wearing a mask before Apple added that ability to iOS. I didn’t really need the Apple Watch then so went back to my regular watches. I ended up buying 6 watches last year and two this year so far with one more on order.

"Started collecting" a little over two years ago, and until they put the steel navigator on sale for half off, I hadn't purchased a watch for like 9 months. Although I did get a mudmaster for Christmas after only 8 months. I expect not to buy any more watches this year, but I could be wrong. I just think I have the sub $1500 watches I'd like to own, and I don't think I'll be ready to go above that this year.

Probably 10 years or so.

Why do you feel like you need to buy a watch while on vacation in Florida? Selection is probably better locally just a short trip from home. And if you end up in Disney there goes the watch money.

It was longer than that actually. I bought my last watch in early ‘96 (a timex Indiglo rebranded as LLBean) and then bought a Speedy Triple date in late ‘22…. So 25-26 years give or take. I’ve bought 5 since ‘22 and sold 2 possible 3 depending on whether or not I can close this deal on my NTTD

Foghorn asking the real questions… in my experience Florida is a F**king Expensive place to shop for luxury goods and I live in the Bay Area. If you want to buy watches on the East coast go to Delaware, New Hampshire or one of the other no sales tax states.

1y from Jan 22 to Jan 23 🤯

2022 was a great year for me. Lots of travel (personal and good work travel), met Direnzo owner, Direnzo Meteorite Watch arrived, settled into a new Job. 2023 kinda sucked, so I bought some great watches to fill that void 😅

·

Believe it or not. 7 years….then I got the 7 year itch 😂

·

I buy about one watch per year. So it’s not unusual for me to go as long as 18 months between purchases. I’m at 14 months currently although I am feeling the itch.

·

The first from 18-28 😂

·

My last purchase was my Helm Vanuatu on Feb 2021, still holding it in so far

·

Currently closing in on four months...

·

My longest was 7 years.

·

You buying every couple weeks?? You opening up a store or something? 😂

·

Two or three months, but I have gone up to a year back in the day.

·

10 years, then the addiction started up again.

·

Around 15 years. I fell out of love with watches for a while.

·

On average not more than 6 months.

·

3 years....then Rolex stocks were available and watches were cheap

·

I started collecting in November and so far the longest has been 8 days 🙃

·

The longest has probably been 4 months

·

Since I lost my watch money on a faulty bitcoin wallet transaction. Stowa please answer my emails.

·

About 20 years, from the advent of mobile phones to 2022 when I caught the bug!

·

Had an armitron iron man in middle schoo in the late 80sl, then I don't remember any particular purchase until a purchase of a Columbia quartz in 2009, and then when I caught the itch during 2021 after my mom passed and I found a treasure trove of horological goodies in the attic. Some fashion junk, some fakes, a few decent things including a 1912 Hamilton pocket watch. I picked up a couple Fossils and then it was all uphill from there.

Maybe 2 or 3 months has been my longest stretch since. 😂

·

I went a year with only 3 watches and no new purchases. Don’t see myself doing that again 😎

·

Wow. Driving from New England to Florida?
