You said it all…

·

No if diving.

Yes if not diving.

The "why" should be intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer.

·

I wouldn’t take it swimming but I’d take it anywhere dry. Why not?

·

If you want to dive with a leather strap, it's your money.

Why should we care?

Question for all who voted no... Would you put leather on a GMT Master? For example, the GMT Master looks very, very similar to the Sub and lots of people put leather on their GMT Master, so I don't really see the logic, other than the watches original intended purpose, which hardly anyone is actually using them for nowadays.

·

I say No but it's your watch. If you want it to be on leather go for it. Some people have them on gold bracelets. For me it reminds me of Rolexs on nato straps. I just can't wrap my head around it. I think it looks rediculous.

·

I‘d say it depends. Most vintage or vintage inspired divers look great on a leather strap. Many modern divers… not so much

·

For the millionth time - YES.

·

*except while diving 😉

Around 40 people so far voted no… 😂I knew that will be the case… Your question is spot on!

I knew it too, but funnily enough, none of the "no" voters have answered my question yet hehe

Wow, that first one 😍

·

They look awesome on leather . . . and let us be honest . . . 95% of the time these watches are not in water.

·

Yes. Because why not?

·

My vote was for no but if your not diving it looks really good so no and yes. Who knows I might throw a nato on a dress watch too 🤣

No, I actually use my dive watches for what they are designed for: diving and surfing. A leather strap would never work for me.

Good point about the original intended purpose, but watches can easily endure pressures equivalent to 100, 150 or even 200m but not actually go to those depths. Given lots of people pursue lots of different waters sports which could involve hard shocks of pressure on your watch eg, coming of a surfboard in heavy surf or a jet ski or water skis, bombing into a swimming pool - then a watch with higher WR ratings make sense . Yeah sure 99.9999999% of us may never dive with a Submariner to a depth 200 meters, but maybe 50, 60% of us may have our watches endure those exposure of 100m + equivalence of water depths through our everyday activities.

·

Yes only if its matched well

·

Yes, because I buy watches because I like how they look, not to larp as a navy seal

·

I voted no, because functionality would be… 🤷🏻‍♂️ And if we’re talking about the style, I don’t get it too.

·

If it’s just a dress diver sure. If it’s a watch that will actually get wet then no.
