Hello fellow watch people
Just want to introduce myself. I had a chance to poke around in here for a couple hours yesterday and I'm excited to spend more time here. A little about me
I wouldn't call myself a collector, but I do have a modest collection that seems to be growing. My mom got me into watches as a kid. She gifted me several for birthdays and such. I still have a couple of them, too. Since then I have pretty much always worn a watch. I think the first watches I started buying as a young dude were Swatch and later Fossil watches. I’ve had my fair share of Casio and Timex watches over the years, too. My first “serious” watch was a birth year Accutron which I still have.
About 5 years ago I decided to up my daily wear game and ended up with a couple Citizen watches which inspired me to finally buy my first automatic. That led me to YouTube and sent me down a rabbit hole of watch geekdom. My first Automatics were Islanders and Orient. More recently I have developed a fondness for hand-wind mechanical watches as well as pilot and field style watches. Something about Arabic numerals and minimal bells and whistles just appeals to me.
I look forward to getting to know folks here and appreciating your collections.

Just keep in mind your tastes are going to change and you are going to buy watches that might cost a bit more and more.. before you know it you will have a sizable collection. But remember, mechanical watches needs to be serviced 5-15 years depending on the recommendation, that is going to add up over the years. Then there is a question of wrist time, currently I am on a 3 day rotation and my watches don't get back into rotation for months. So, be very very picky about what you want to collect.
