If you could only buy one Rolex

If you can have only one Rolex, which model would it be?  Nothing over 30k.

A Tudor Ranger

I'd go with a Pelagos, or a Pelagos FXD/39 if they released a date version.

Specs-wise, that's a great watch, but I can't get past the sNoWFlAke hand.

I actually like it on the Pelagos, but I'm not a fan on the dressy BB line.

If the Ranger had a date, and I didn't already own a C63, I'd be all over a Ranger.

Realistically, if I walked into an AD tomorrow and they had a Ranger in stock I'd have a Ranger... Which is why I avoid ADs.

I am a fan of the Explorer II and the Milgauss. It’s hard to find value in Rolex right now though. I will be sourcing my luxury tool watches from brands such as Omega, Breitling, IWC or Tudor until the Rolex prices come back to retail.

Milgauss with blue face.

Since I'm being price-capped and can't get a Day/Date, and they won't option an OP or Datejust properly, a Cellini. Or I'll just max out a Daytona to immediately flip.

·

Depends.

If the question excludes Rolex we already have, then Panda Daytona (hence could buy only one).

If the question is more about if we didn't have any Rolex and could only buy one, then Pepsi on jubilee.

Truly lovely watch.

Polar or Black Exp II?

Daytona.

·

Probably an Explorer. This may sound ridiculous, but the Yacht Master has been growing on me lately too.

·

The cyclops day date with the day at the 12.

·

If I could buy only one Rolex I would get an Omega.

·

Sub no date for me. But honestly with all this fuss about the Brand I rather buy a 39 Pelagos and a Ranger for that (Retailprice) money. And feel way more comfortable actually wearing a Tudor in public and worries about scratching that damn thing;)

GMT Master II - Batman

·

White Roman Datejust 36. Fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet.

·

Pepsi GMT Master 1675 (from the 60s) if I knew it was in good working order.  If it had to be new, the blue Skydweller.

·

I’m with you in the explorer 2, but mine would have to be a cream dial 16550

·

In an effort to impress @Aurelian, I'll go with the Cuervo y Sobrinos #rolex. Not sure if it fits the budget though 🤣

I am impressed. But, I will just leave this here for all of the Rolex fans:

I own an explorer, I absolutely love it, and I really don’t think I could see myself owning any other Rolex. I’ve always admired the GMT Master II, but I think it is a bit too flashy for me to ever be comfortable wearing it day to day. If they ever bring the explorer II back to 40mm that would be tempting though

·

Vintage Panerai.

Edit: oops, that's above 30k :P

·

I’ve wanted a 16550/70 for about 20 years.    Now that I’m in a position to buy one I still can’t afford it. 😂  That said the 226570 is starting to grow on me a bit.   The reality of it is I’ll probably never own one now.

Explorer2 Polar!
