The find of a lifetime!!

So, there I was mingling through our local thrift store when suddenly, out of the corner of my eye I spotted something with am almost friendly familiarity. BEHOLD! A movado, hamilton ventura, a vostok and another USSR issued watch. Big bag of straps and some other no named watches. Walked out with everything for under 50$. I have been looking at purchasing a Ventura for the longest time!!! Men in Black is one of my all-time favorite movies. (Not to mention the whole Elvis side of things). I will do some more digging on the others and post individually as time goes on. Keep an active eye out. There is no telling what you might come across in the wild. Happy hunting chaps! Cheers.

Great find!

Lucky dog! Buy a lottery ticket lol

And they were probably glad that someone finally took them! Excellent deal, of course. Hopefully someone with better familiarity of Cyrillic letters can decipher a few dials.

When I saw this extraordinary Hamilton Lloyd XL Automatic watch in a 2nd hand store in Hiroshima Japan two months ago for ¥39,900 (less than 260 USD) I did not hesitate for a moment. What a steal!

The left Russian one says Kapitan and right-most is a Shturmanskii. At least, that’s what the letters say.

·

Wow; what a great find! Congratulations

·

WTF.. 😱 wow... Good for you ..

·

Holy shit. A Ventura?? Wow. Probably contingent on taking the Movado, right?

·

Well done. You should ask them if they have more in the back!

·

Under 50 bucks!? 😳 😳 😳

The Other USSR watch is a STURMANSKIE Poljot Chronograph 3133 1981260. Comps go for $600-900. It has a P3133 mechanical movement, which is a Valjoux7734. Not a clone of the movement either- in 1974, Valjoux sold all the tools and the rights to produce the movement to Poljot to make room for the production of the new Valjoux7750. To improve the movement, Poljut increased the jewels from 17 to 23 and increased the beat rate form 18k to 21.6k to reduce friction and increase accuracy. example- https://www.ebay.com/itm/335314860567?itmmeta=01HVJ4APCKMY7YAFXFD00H9TG2&hash=item4e1252ba17:g:uCYAAOSwzs5lS4jE

Congratulations on a nice haul at a GREAT price! You may end up doubling your investments when upgrading your batteries 🔋! 😂

i dont know why the ref number is a link.

Wowwww 😮‍💨🤯amazing find!

·

YOU GOT A VENTURA FOR UNDER FIFTY BUCKS???? (unprintable cursing)

·

For this price I’d have ransacked the place too. The Ventura for me, the other watches on eBay = profit!

·

So, after cleaning all of the wrist cheese out of all of the watches, new batteries and straps. I can honestly say I am utterly disappointed with the ventura. It is keeping excellent time! But the fit and finish of the piece has left me feeling moorish. A bit underwhelming and not as excited or enthusiastic on the find. It's like meeting your hero in real life. Just not very cool in my opinion. The story behind the watch being CIA tech, Elvis sponsored, in one of my favorite movies still isn't enough for me to even try and like it. If anyone is interested in a trade or a cheap purchase please DM me. I am.willing to part ways with all of the watches listed in the picture above. Not looking to get rich. Just looking at sharing the love with a community of people with the same passions. Thank you!!

They were all in separate bags with other crap no name watches. Lolol. There was a seiko alarm chronograph in the one with the movado. Turned out to be a hunk of junk :( non repairable in my opinion.

Unfortunately alaska does not have any casinos or good gambling options. We have a state lottery but its a farce. I do pretty well on scratchers when I visit the lower 48. When I was in Nashville a few weeks back spent 100 and made 300. Also picked up my tudor when I was down there!

Do I even want to know what you want for the Hamilton? I'd love one of those! But when I see them its always priced well out of my current reach. Please let me know.

Wow! Thank you for the spot on information!!!

It's a really nice chronograph. The russians made good/durable watches. Your Vostok Amphibia 420831 is fairly new, and mods great. Here's one with a https://one-second-closer.com/ after market bezel and insert. All the after market bezels fit any SKXxxx insert- so sky's the limit. I run a site dedicated to modding vostoks called modstok.com, I have a bunch of other info there too- like why your crown wobbles.

That's a shame. Well keep hitting up those thrift and antique shops. You might be lucky again. Love your finds!

Modstok.com is just a clearing house for sourcing, I don't sell anything, nor so I make any juice from any resources it link to. If your worried about scratches on the vostok crystal- a 4 dollar tube of polywatch and 10 minutes of rubbing fixes 99% of scratches.

·

Wow whata haul!! You did good! That Ventura, is it a quartz or mechanical? If still available, message me with how much you're looking to get ... only interested in the watch head, as that strap looks like its seen better daze! LOL!

thanks!
