Got the Casio Duro bracelet from Long Island Watch

So this might be a bit controversial but I purchased the Long Island Watch bracelet for the Casio Duro. I think it looks great and really elevates the look and feel of the watch. The reason I believe some will see this as controversial is because the bracelet is more expensive than the watch itself… $10 more… The bracelet is priced on longislandwatch.com for $59.99 while the watch is available on Amazon for $49.92.

Let me explain why this makes sense to me and I’d love to know your opinion. The Casio MDV-106 is an excellent quartz diver for the cost. Seriously, for $50 I can’t find any flaws other than it’s a bit too big. (42mm would be a lot better in my opinion). The strap it comes with though is literally the cheapest thing about the watch and will definitely not last anywhere near as long as the watch. It also doesn’t match and looks cheap in comparison to the watch but that’s my opinion. It has to be replaced.

Now, you can go with many options from nato to rubber to metal bracelets. But let’s think about the price of these accessories. When you start to see the prices you come to realize that the Duro itself is the price of an accessory! Even the cheaper natos and rubber straps you can find for $20 are expensive when compared to the $50 of the Duro. So you’re left with two options: Either buy a very cheap low quality strap or bracelet to go with the Duro or buy something that’s going to enhance an already great watch.

If you’re going to get something cheap you might as well just keep the strap it comes with. If you want to enhance the look of the watch you have to get something that’s at least going to be at the same level of quality. This bracelet seems to be priced fairly based on the fact that it seems to be of the same quality as other bracelets I’ve ordered from places like Strapcode for around the same price.. What I love is that it has solid end links which is a huge difference from the cheaper bracelet I got from Ali Express.

At the end of the day I look at the watch and the bracelet as one item. The total cost was right around $115ish for a great quartz diver with a nice bracelet. I believe if Casio sold this watch with this bracelet it would be either right around that price or even more expensive. I’m very happy with the purchase but I wanna know you’re opinion. Does this make sense to you???

The Duro is so much better than it has to be. It's like somebody made a mistake at Casio. I wish it was smaller, as well. Too big for me, but great value for money. 👍

·

I don't disagree. I'm confident in the quality of the Long Island Watch product but I've chosen a less expensive bracelet.

·

Nothing wrong with putting a nice bracelet on a good watch. Enjoy!

·

Vary nice!!

I don't think it's a controversial issue. The main argument here is whether you found that this combination makes for a good 120$ watch, or can you get anything better for you at this price? In my opinion this is how it should be looked at.

The same argument can be used for me taking a Casio AE1200 world timer, and modding it with an SKXMOD kit and a Vario strap. Is the result worthy of a 200$ watch? I think it is.

Exactly!! And btw I did that mod also! I modded my world time with the SKXMOD and I love it! Definitely worth the money spent. 👌

It’s funny because I was originally going to use that mod as the topic for this post!

I have that Casio in pepsi colors that I managed to pick up from Walmart for $30. I would totally put that bracelet on it. I don't think it's controversial in any way shape or form - it's a great watch for that kind of money and I can see how having it on a bracelet would make it come up even more in my watch rotation.

·

I have a Duro and to be honest I think it would be fun to have a bracelet for it. Mine lives on a Vario graphic 2 piece nato. Cost was 20.00, I've purchased a couple of Long Island bracelets and love them.

I think your money was well spent, It looks great! can you post a pick of the clasp

I did the opposite - bought the Casio Duro/Marlin for the great rubber strap— threw the watch away and used the strap on my Vostok Amphibia which had a horrible steel bracelet.

·

Doesn’t matter. If you like it then that’s all that matters. Btw, I think it looks great too!👍💯

If you're happy then there's no problem, looks pretty good to me. I might have to add a green one to my collection.

I like my Nato from WatchGecko but I’m still looking for a nice, rounded bracelet.

·

I spent 6 times the value of my Casio Royal moding it. Look at it a bit differently you have put together a great looking watch for a good price.

·

Looks fantastic with the green bezel!

·

I love the Duro so much that it’s the only watch I have two of. I bought a bracelet from Casio and it is horrible, adjusting feels like you’re breaking it, the links are folded metal, just crap and it was ~$30.

Fast forward 2 years, bought a Casio Duro specific bracelet on AliExpress for $14, perfect fit, solid links, good quality, there were several options so I choose the one that looked best and had good reviews, wasn’t cheapest, wasn’t most expensive.

I like Longisland, great guys but there are good deals to be had on AliExpress if you take your time and aren’t in a hurry.

Hi you pay whatever you’re happy paying!

Simple as that, the bracelet really lifts the look of the watch I got mine from eBay for £17:00 uk it’s good enough quality but not perfect….

If Casio released a 40mm Duro, would be a game changer. I agree the size seems the main downside of that watch.

·

It actually looks better not gonna lie

·

Not only do I agree, I wasn't aware LIW made this...now I HAVE to buy it too 😂

I already replaced the crystal for $40. So my $50 watch is soon to be a $150 dollar watch and I think it looks great!

I really think you nailed it with this perspective. Can anybody name a better diver-on-bracelet for $120? I can't think of one.

This is pretty much what I came here to type and I'm just gonna stop reading thru threads to see if someone has said what I was gonna say already to avoid seeming disconnected and just...wait. what was I on about? 🤔

·

That is a Lot of words to say the duros looks at home with a nice bracelet! Makes perfect sense , the watch looks twice it's value already , with that bracelet add another x2. So your $100 investment looks like $400. If i had access to $50 duros I would have all the colors.

I have it on nato.

·

I don't see this as controversial. This is my $10 Winner on a $20 leather strap. Sometimes, thats all a watch need to look and feel better.

Image

By the way, that looks awesome. Congrats.

·

Looks great, but no bracelet for me...too heavy. It's summer so bright colors rule the day

·

Damn fine! I’m thinking I’m going to do the same thing.

·

Looks great. Makes me think I should go buy a Duro. 😂

I’m working on it! I have three. Green, black and Batman!
