OK - I've lost my mind. I just purchased this...
Maybe it was the Gulf livery colors...those awesome oranges and blues...
Maybe it was my love of comic books...still haven't grown up yet...
Maybe it was the prednisone combined with the codeine in my cough syrup...
In any event, I just had to purchase the new Maurice Lacroix x Benzilla Aikon #tide...
Shocking for anyone who has seen my wrist checks...but damn I just couldn't resist this one.

I can justify it to myself by saying I'm helping to save the oceans since it was made from upcycled reclaimed plastics...yeah that's a good reason 😉

That's Benzilla's "alien" "LOOOK" that he created with his street art. LOOOK is in his time machine...which in this case is the dial inside a watch.

Sick man sick very groovy. I like that style. Looks like a graffiti swatch.
While I don't mind Maurice Lacroix's newer stuff, I fear that they may have faded to far away from the great watch styles of their past. At the NY show this past weekend my wife asked the presenter if they would be able to get her a replacement strap for her older watch. When she showed an image of her watch the woman said "wow that's a beautiful watch, I have never seen one like that." My wife assured her that it was a Maurice Lacroix.
Cool watch. Wish these artsy watches incorporate indices so we could, you know, tell time and wear a bitchin' watch?

I have been a fan of ML for a number of years.
When they came out with the Aikon, I was all over it. That and the Eliros.
Such beautiful watches - like a cross between an AP RO and an Omega Constellation taking the best features of both.
Really a bummer about the strap since ML puts that great "m" into the strap.

It’s astoundingly fun!
I really like the watch but my broke ass mentality would not let me spend 800+ on a plastic watch. Yet I spent 220 on Jordan shoes that cost 30 dollars to make the irony.
I get it, it’s appealing to have a bright graff-influenced dial like that in a watch. I’m debating how easy it would be to try and get some bits sprayed on a dial and into a NH35 build, and I am a huge fan of the Tag F1 Alec Monopoly models, so that’s my point of reference. I like the juxtaposition of something odd into something known or classic.

The only real part of the Aikon I can’t seem to gel with is the black bezel/ring. I’m sure it looks better in the flesh, but on paper it doesn‘t connect with me.

That's really cool! Love the art on it!! The mix of "high" culture (super nice watch) with "low" culture (the awesome graphics, cartoons and graffiti). Easy to forget that watches can be jewelry and jewelry can be art.

Oh yes, it frames it, but it’s the same on the block colour models and I’m thinking it might look better in the flesh than on screen. I’m jealous, I really want to make something now. It‘s been a while…

I think these watches are very fun and am interested to see where the Aikon Tide line goes. I'd love to see them do a model with a solar movement.
