Tudor BB58 Question

I’m strongly considering purchasing a Tudor Black Bay 58 in black in the next couple of months. Here’s my concern. Tudor has recently released a couple of dynamite upgrades to OTHER LINES. Namely they’ve got METAS certified on some watches and they’ve added the T-fit clasp!

Is Tudor going to add either/both of those features to the Black Bay 58 in black sometime in 2024?? What are y’all’s thoughts on picking up a new watch only to have it upgraded by the brand soon thereafter? Have you had this happen to you?

I have this BB58. Everything about it is fantastic. Personally, I think the T fit is overrated. The bracelet on the OG 58 is very comfortable and durable. When your wrist warms up a bit it fits perfectly. Prices are also under 3k on secondary market. Totally worth it.

With regards to the BB58 just now; the METAS certified upgrade wouldn't see me delay purchasing as is, if that was the watch I wanted. I realise to a lot of people accuracy is a factor but my time isn't so important that I'd think about hanging fire in the hope they will upgrade.

The clasp would be more of a factor but I'm still not certain I'd delay in hope. Patience was never a strength of mine :)

Would you consider the BB54?

·

I would wait for the new model. If you recall last year the red bezel version got a slightly slimmer case with a jubilee option.

Would you consider the BB54?

Definitely. It’s probably too small but I keep asking my AD to call me when they finally get one in stock so I can try one on. I’m a 7.5” wrist so probably can’t pull the 54 off but I want to try!

·

Wait for the upgrades to come, the main reasons I sold mine was the clasp , I could never get the perfect fit for it, always too tight of too loose , the Bezal action grip wasn’t to my liking also. Other than that it’s was a great watch

·

Depends how important those upgrades are to you…I love mine as is…the only thing I may add is the Steel Reef on the fly adjustment link

·

I have a black bay 58 for me in blue and am thinking of buying another in black on the bracelet love the watch.

·

I tried on the BB 54 and love it. I have a 7 inch wrist and I am used to the 41mm Rolex GMT and could wear it no problem. I was looking at it for my son who has 6.5 inch wrist and I think it would be perfect for him.

·

There's always something newer/better coming. No one (here) knows if or when these upgrades may come.

·

Give the BB54 a try, I was surprised how much I like it.

·

I think that at least a version with a ceramic bezel will arrive this year, I think you should wait a little, I think that if changes come that interest you after you have bought the watch, it is a cold water bath, but with Tudor you can always do it to sell at a good price.

·

If you’re concerned, Wait till March when they announce the new models.

·

I went to a Tudor AD and have tried them all on and I have a 7.75cm wrist I am R/handed but ultimately chose the Pelagos 42mm LHD. I have zero regrets it can’t be upgraded any more than it is imo. The braclet micro adjustments are the best I have seen. Great lume it’s Awsome. Accuracy is great. At the moment I purchased I had several in mind this is a winner.

·

If you can, wait until Watches & Wonders in April. Any upgrades will be revealed there.

If you're 7.5 then you should consider the bb heritage 41. You're approx the same size as me and the 54 looks like a toy, the 58 is small, but the h41 is perfect .

·

Can see the 54 getting the T-fit clasp and some new colours on the bezel or a blue dial like the 58. I don't see a Metas version yet I could be wrong but I think they will do a 58 Metas limited run first.

Would love to see the Ranger line have a 36mm added to the line up 🤞 and the Original Burgundy colour way added to the 58 this year.

·

I've decided to wait. It's simply the fact that my wrist swells up so much when it's hot. And I need a fly adjust. And I'm pretty sure the BB58 will get the upgrades. It's their most popular line. It only a question when it happens. Can you wait?

·

We can always wait........but get one now!! Enjoy the hobby

·

If you like it, get it.

Updates happen constantly. If that model isn’t updated this year it will be next year or the following year.

PS: I prefer deployant clasps. 😁

·

Watches and Wonders is just a few months away. Have patience and wait a little for the announcements. 🙂

Well mate I'm in a similar situation. I want a BB58 also because I love the color pattern. I tried the 54 on and obviously it fitted a little better than the 58. Problem is that damn bezel! Why is it of the wrong color?! So my doubt is that Tudor might fix that problem this year on the 54. If that happens, it might worth for me to wait and get the improved 54 with the correct bezel on.

Still, I might get out of work early tomorrow and go get me a 58 so...

Let me know if you pull the trigger! Otherwise, looks like you and I are waiting until spring

I feel like the BB58 is a great watch in need of a great bracelet. I made mine work with an Uncle Seiko half link and a lot of filing of rough edges on the clasp.

My BB58 has been on the chopping block practically as long as I’ve had it simply due to the bracelet. It’s still hanging on but it is out on loan to a friend right now. We’ll see what happens when/if I get it back.

·

I havn’t had it happen to me where a watch is upgraded instantly after I buy it but I’m almost certain thi reference is due an upgrade. It just doesn’t make sense for Tudor to have so many variations of essentially the same movement. Furthermore it makes the brand inconsistent regarding the seconds hand for example. I reckon the next gen will surely be a superior watch BUT will inevitably come with an increased price.

·

Go for it. Metas is overrated. I own metas watches and run +4 and +5 I also own Hamiltons that run +1 and a BB58 +2. T fit… I’ve got it in a Ranger and never use it.

I've been wondering about this too. Thinking about getting one in blue as a 40th birthday present to myself, but luckily that's not until November so I have plenty of time to wait and see.

·

This is an outstanding watch

·

Having owned BB58 in the past (had to let it go due to financial situation), I would not worry about accuracy as it was extremely accurate. I also wore it with a bracelet and did not need micro adjustment
