It took me three times to finally snag my Smiths PRS-29a from the TimeFactors website. My biggest tip is to save a card to your browser so that you can breeze through the checkout process more quickly.
My dad bringing me to AD's and boutiques at the mall since I was a kid definitely helped me appreciate watches. Big milestones were punctuated with watches as gifts. Then came online watch media and meetup groups. In my opinion, you can't force an interest on someone, especially your kid, but you can make it more likely that they'll share it with you.
