Trello as an organizational tool

Hey, fellow watch nerds!

I'm not the first person to post about this, but I wanted to bring this up again as it's really helped me with visualizing and organizing both my current collection and my wants. Trello!

I first started keeping a list of my watches in a Google Sheet. Lots of data, lacking visuals.

Then I started a project in my favorite to-do app, Todoist. This worked really well because each watch could be entered as a card and I could move them around really easily. Columns for planned purchases, next up, grails, and a general backlog of ones that have caught my eye. The downside to this was, again, a lack of visuals.

Enter Trello. I was able to recreate the column board view, add labels for specific features (which are searchable/filterable), and cover images! So far this has been perfect. The planning board was the first to be created and I'm in the process of doing the same thing for the collection board.

Each card includes the market price, a link to where I can buy the watch (for more information), and labels for basic specs (size, price category, dial color, etc.). I use filters to visually narrow down the list to see trends on either board.

If my whims change, I simply reorder the cards. Don't want a watch on the list anymore, it gets archived. Sold one, I add a note to the card indicating who it's been sold to, move it to the Sold column, and remove the cover.

Once a purchase has been made, I move the card from the Watch Planning board to the Watch Collection board. Everything stays organized.

Trello is free as long as you stay under the 10-board limit. https://trello.com

If anyone has any questions, I'd love to help.

It's not bad. Lets you input basic info and pics of each watch in your collection, has summary information about your collection, and lets you also build a wishlist with pics and basic info.

I use the WatchPro app. Tracks specs of the watch such as size, cost , complications, country of origin. Has a built in accuracy tool and a sheet for time graph data if you have one. Too may thing to list. Check it out.

The wear count feature seems like a nice addition, but I don’t know if I could just manage the collection in my phone. I still do most of my browsing/shopping on the computer. That said, I’ll probably check it out. Do you have an App Store link for it? I wasn’t able to find it in the Apple App Store searching by name.
