Women wearing men’s watches

Although I’m a woman, I’m more interested in men’s watches. A woman was standing in front of me this afternoon when I was travelling home by train. She was wearing what appears to be a Rolex GMT-Master Root Beer, which surprised me. Her wrist looks smaller than mine, yet she managed to rock it like a lady boss. 😎 Since I’m an introvert, I don’t want her to think of me as a weirdo. 🤣 I hope to see more women who are interested in men’s watches. If you saw someone wearing a stylish watch on a public transportation/ place, how would you respond?

I don't blame you for being more interested in men's watches, there are too few ladies watches that stand out as excellent.

I have purchased a Santos & a Constellation for my wife in 24 years together, that's it. Both of them are beautiful creations without the bling that watch brands seem to think women must have. Both of her closest friends happily wear men's watches but alas my wife is tiny & wearing a man's watch would cause her to stoop as she tries to walk upright with the added weight on her wrist.

I'm a talker,so would engage and say wow cool watch, but I would be aware of the surroundings and would think about security/safety but if it was quietish and not risky, engage. They can always say nothing.

My wife sometimes borrows my watches if hers are away for a service ,she has a 40mm TT Yacht master and a 41mm OP ,or she's going somewhere she doesn't feel safe wearing hers as I have a few quartz work watches

I'd happily talk to a person of either gender (there are still 2, right?) if they were wearing an interesting watch, if I could do so in a 'non threatening' way. I like to see people wearing what they want, regardless of whether it's deemed appropriate, and I also agree there are so many less options for women. Wear a man's watch if you want-be bold!

Sh sounds like a cool lady 😎

I often will compliment them on the watch.

·

I doubt I would say anything or respond in anyway to a stranger. However, I would think she is more likely to be an independent thinker, and likely more interesting.

·

I agree that there is a nonproportional amount of men watches compared to women, which is a shame. Having said that, there are beautiful watches that are exclusively for women (well.... Nowadays nobody knows anymore).

Here is my wife's Credor. It is tiny and plagued with details:

A friend of mine, a skinny woman, has a 42 mm Seiko Kinetic. The links slope inwards when she has it on. The salesman told her it was too big for her, but she didn't care. "Only men have cool stuff."

Black PVD, it looks great on her.

I'll pass on your comments to her , she'll be made up

Wife picked out her first automatic, she went with the one she felt for her best. It's a Seiko SRPD55. Fits her fine, and she likes it. Wear what you like.

Far commenting on others watches, like @Stricko , I'm a talker, so if I noticed it, and I wasn't feeling like I'd be marking the individual to any onlookers, I'd def compliment the watch.

I do this all the time at work, sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised to find another enthusiast. Sometimes you get the flexers, but it's always cool to ask a simple question, and then see the other person just start gushing out information, what they like, what they don't like, why they bought it etc....

Always makes me smile, cuz I know that's what happens when I'm asked...😅🤏🏻🤙🏻

Hey there! I also tend to gravitate towards mens watches too. They make more interesting variety for men! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Although I'm not a woman I can understand why they would prefer to wear men's watches because my usual reaction when I see what is usually sold to women is: WTF, why would anyone ever want to wear something like that?

·

I Like watches 42mm and above as i have a 7¾" wrist, my wife borrows many (even 50mm) and makes the look them dugs heehaws

So I can’t pull this off then?

Well as rule. I think it helps a lot in this case that you got such smooth arms my man 😂

I completely agree with you. Women's watches with bling don't appeal to me. I have a strong preference for men's watches right now, but maybe that will change in the future.

The asian curse. I can’t grow manly hair anywhere that matters

Maybe they shouldn’t be referred to as men’s or women’s watches. Just; watches.

Big generalisation; but generally I find a lot of women are more fashion conscious than most men. And like you say, women can rock big old jewellery like a boss - whether it’s giant earrings, bracelets OR chunky sports watches. It just looks super cool, embracing the oversized look. Certainly something like a root beer lends itself to this look.

·

I’m all for it! If there where a protest for it I would be marching. Anything to support women wearing watches.

Everyone should wear the watch of their choice, everyone should be free to define their style. Women with men’s s watches look strong …and nice.

·

I simply tip my head and comment "Nice (insert brand here)" or just "Nice watch" and the compliment has always been appreciated. You can also immediately tell if they are an enthusiast or a watch snob based on the reaction and you can easily steer the conversation from there.

My client, a lady, rocks a batman like a boss. I respected her more for it!

Nice blingy bracelet you've got there. 😎

·

When I was an adolescent I had a TAG Heuer midsize quartz watch. Gold and steel with a rotating bezel. When I stopped wearing it my mother wanted it.

Wear what you like.

·

I don’t have a problem with that as long it can tell time and they like it like that what matters.

·

I would compliment them, but I’m much more careful about it than with men. In general, I don’t compliment people who are wearing a Rolex because I don’t want them to perceive me as picking them as a “mark”. Most women I see at work wear Rolexes, and as general Rolex wearers go, they are less likely to be enthusiasts.

I was working the other day and complimented a guy’s Panerai, to which he looked at his watch and then back at me, and said “thank you” with a smile. His wife said “Oh God! 🙄” 😂. He asked me “What’s your grail?”. So that was pretty nice. No doubt she was thinking “oh lord don’t encourage him!”
