SOLD! ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€โš–๏ธ What have you guys sold recently, and why?

So I got the SPB333 Save the Ocean LE Diver right when it came out. I absolutely loved the Grand Seiko-esque "Snowflake" type effect of the dial. I really appreciated the detail of the concentric circles on the bezel. i did truly hate the small round date window, which not only broke up the dial, but nevertheless was almost useless in actually displaying the date. Great bracelet however. But I think the overall reason I got rid of it was the shape of the case. Sorta cushion shaped....it just bothered me more and more.

I have to say it sat on chrono24 quite a while. Selling ain't easy these days.

What have you guys sold recently, and why?

Iโ€™ve been meaning to sell some off. Then I just think of the headache involved and put it off again. Soon, though! ๐Ÿ˜†

I traded this in for a JLC.

Reason: Iโ€™m building a dressy subset. And the JLC fits right into my box

You aren't kidding. Selling watches is a pain. I have listed 2 on FB marketplace and 1 on Reddit. Both are a pain because the watches aren't worth enough to put on Chrono24.

Have sold a vintage Seiko recently, and am looking to sell a couple of others, including a Seiko SSK, and Oris Diver 65 and a re-issued Tag Heuer Monza. They're all such good watches but just not getting the wrist time they deserve!

I am trying on Reddit and Chrono24, haven't tried out anywhere else like eBay yet. It seems like the market is really slow, even with prices looking pretty attractice compared with other offerings.

Found success anywhere else? Or was that still the best place for selling?

Well the fees there are much lower than eBay. Iโ€™d prefer a forum like Reddit Watch Exchange, but have no history there

Yeah, Ebay and C24 charge fees. So if the watch is under a certain amount, itโ€™s not really worth it. Thatโ€™s why I was thinking about using Reddit, too.

My problem is that Iโ€™m going to sell micros. A Serica and Yema. The only people that may be interested in those would be enthusiasts. That dramatically brings down the number of potential buyers. ๐Ÿ˜†

Sold 2 Mondaine watches,

1 Merkur jump hour, no wrist time for any of them. I am going to keep selling until I can narrow down to 6-10 I wear consistently.

I sold quite a few off last year on ebay (man their fees hurt!). Still trying to sell off a couple more, namely my Certina First Titanium Chrono (quartz). Awesome watch, just wears too big for me.

eBay is unbelievable how they rip you off

Recently sold my 39mm Tudor Ranger to get my Sinn 144 chronograph.

LL Bean Casco Bay Field watch. Tritium tube dial but I am becoming a fan of mechanical watches so it went, traded my Hamilton Seabeach III for a Seiko Land Tortoise. Great opportunity to own a cushion style case so I had to trade. G100 Gshock antimagnetic. I am moving to all steel cases so I sold this all resin case watch.

As a hoarder i dont see myself selling off any of my watches. They'll either be passed on to relatives, friends, or buried with me when im gone

Sold a 2014 Steinhart Flieger. Got it when I didnโ€™t know any better as a new collector, tried to make 44mm work for me but I figured my sweet spot is 40mm. Managed to close a deal and sell it to a fellow big wristed collector. So yea I parted with my first watch but I made a new friend with the buyer so all is good.

Gave away my Evant Tropic to my mother since she likes it, the fume blue colour happens to be her favourite colour. She seldom wears it but I would like to think she stashes it away in her drawer and admire it occasionally.

I had a Klockers kickstarter for cheap thrill, didnโ€™t like the actual product, barter traded it away for a LV wallet which I gave to my father in law.

I just wore them less and less. Frequently passed over them. Hopefully gone to someone who will wear them. Gave 4 away to my little brother, who later proceeded to piss me off. I was actually getting lectured by my sister in law who just finished bong rips. He's lucky I already gave them to him.

ยท

I sold my Boderry Voyager Bronze today. The specs are good, I like the colors, the legibility is fantastic, but I couldn't get used to the shape and the size of the case. I think the chemistry wasn't there.

I'm thinking about my Timex Marlin Chronograph and the Casio Duro too.

ยท

I have had some success selling affordable pieces on eBay. Recently my Bulova Lunar Pilot was sent out. I enjoyed the watch I just found I wasnโ€™t wearing it very much.

ยท

You should never sell a good 6R35 movement, as those are quite rare - mine SPB 153 is losing 25 sec/day. ๐Ÿ˜ญWorst movement I've ever had, which kind of ruins a great watch for me.

ยท

It's still in warranty, so I'll take it to their authorized repair center soon. This watch has been extra problematic as it also has a slight misalignment of the hour hand (it lags a bit behind the minute hand). I'll probably try to address both problems together, but I'm skeptical the movement can be regulated given how low its amplitude is. (in the words of a local watchmaker - it looked like a 20 year old watch without a service) More likely it is a factory dud and needs to be replaced.
