What is your favorite watch release since 2020?

I got into this hobby (addiction) in late 2019 and I've bought and sold quite a fair few watches since then. A watch guy who I initially met on Instagram, but now am actual friends with asked me the other day what my favorite watch since 2020 was, but without going into crazy Gruebel Forsey and other 6 figure + price range.

I thought about it a few days and last year's JLC Polaris Chronograph with the grey dial is the one I landed on. The different layers ( 35 layers of lacquer to be exact) of dial texture, the colorway as grey is my favorite color on a watch. I love the sporty orange accents. It is a large watch at 42mm, but I'd be confident in myself enough to pull it off, though not quite yet financially.

Jaeger- LeCoultre is my grail brand and though I considered one of the Zenith Chronomasters as my pick, I went with this watch

]I'd love to see what you guys would pick. maybe it's something you already own?

The other oddly a Tag Carrera Chronograph WoS Ltd Ed

Traded the Speedy for it, then the Carrera for a Monaco. Monaco now sold. Would have the Speedy back mind you.

This is a great watch. I had been interested in the blue variant (this model was not released yet). I tried it on but the size was just too much for me. If you can pull it off and don’t feel uncomfortable wearing a piece with plenty of bling, I don’t think you’ll go wrong. I ended up with a TH RP Glassbox. It was a better size for me but honestly the JLC has a superior movement (and more than double the cost)!

What color glass box did you get? I love those releases.

The reverse panda dial (black w/silver subdials). I got it when first released. They had the blue variant but it didn’t speak to me. Neither were in the same league by as the Polaris chrono. It’s fit and finish and dial were top notch. But on the wrist, the TH was just a better watch for ME. Funny thing is that I went in prepared to purchase the Polaris.

The two that I had to buy were Moels 528 and Atelier Wen Perception. The Longines Heritage Power Reserve is also calling out.

I’ll have to look those up unless you happen to have a photo or two?

Wow that Moels is amazing. Now I see the photo I remember what it was. Both great watches 💯

·

Carrera Glassbox gets my vote. That’s one hot watch.

·

Totally can see that Luke. Which one is your favorite? I might pick the Skipper

Fantastic watch and I am debating with myself if I should pull the trigger. I tried it on in the boutique and it was significantly smaller than expected. Tbh, it wears perfectly on my 7.25 inch wrist. If you get it you won't be disappointed. It is an expensive one but it also comes with 8 yrs of warranty.

Great call Marcel 👊🏻👊🏻

100% agree with your pick. The Polaris Chrono in the gray colorway may just be the best Chrono, period. Perfectly balanced dial and a class above the usual Daytona/Chronomaster/Speedy masses.

·

Great choice. This would be my next JLC pick after my Reverso.

Yeah and I love that Reverso Chronograph 🔥

·

Tried this Polaris Chronograph when it was released last year. Love almost everything about it except the size (a tad too big for my small wrist) and the price.

·

Very smitten with my SLGH009. Haven’t found another watch that speaks to me as much as this one.
