Which would you buy?

I'm not knocking on the new Christopher Ward; It does seem like they are constantly striving upwards. They have tenacity vision and seem to have the finger on the pulse of what we watch enthusiasts want. However I was just thinking about if I wanted an integrated skeleton dial titanium sports piece I would get a pre-owned Zenith Defy or even more likely the Oris Pro Pilot X which as you can see from the photos one could have for less money than the Christopher Ward.

what say you guys?

If you don't care about re-sale value, the one you like most.

some people do care about brand heritage as well.

·

the zenith is an eyesore, I like the Oris, but by the time you get to 50 you won't be able to tell the time of any of them.

I do love the oris. tried it on recently. really fantastic piece

Agree. I was wondering why you were pitting a new watch with no heritage vs a top swiss brand which had all the depreciation eaten out already. Seemed pretty obvious choice, no? Unless you are really willing to take a 50% depreciation hit on the CW. Then the CW would be the watch you really liked.

·

I have a Bulova that is similar in look that I kinda regret now because I look at it and can't tell the time

·

In order, I think the Oris and the 12 are the most interesting, the defy I struggle with because all bridge/dial lines up with nearly all the markers so legibility is very poor.

Because this watch came out today and I was comparing it to other watches in a similar vein.

Yeah I think I’d go in that order as well. Not having seen tge CW obviously but it does look very sharp

Zenith all day long, every day! 10x the watch with 10x the detail and 10x the history/prestige

·

If you like this style of watch then good for you, wear with health and happiness. But you did ask and I do not like them at all. Well made and all that but to me gimmicky watch saying look at my gubbins. Some will like that though.

The Zenith with the hands from the Oris

·

Not a single one of them. But I'm curious, does the preowned Zenith and Oris come with a 60 month warranty and a 60 day free return policy?

The Zenith with the hands from the Oris

“Make it so! “

·

The Oris isn't something that would usually interest me - but the Pro-Pilot X is sensational on the wrist, the form of that bracelet, it reminds me of something H.R Giger would create. It's a cool watch.

I admire C. Ward and think that the 12 X is a really solid release but it bears a lot of similarity to the Zenith.

Brand wise Zenith is on another level, they're are lauded for the quality of their movements and workmanship in general, plus they have a genuine claim on the history of integrated bracelet sports watch design with the Defy A3642 beating AP to punch back in '69. And the seller has already taken the depreciation hit on the Defy.

For those reasons - it'd be the Zenith every day for me.

·

With those options I would get the Zenith first, the CW as second and the Oris as third

·

I would go Zenith. I like the legibility and the movement is superb!

·

This Bulova looks also nice to me and it's just 429€

they were founded in 1865.

The brand maybe, but I dont understand how it transfers to the person wearing it.

·

Zenith. Why would i buy the other two for almost the same money?

·

I totally agree for a microbrand they have gone up too high on the price

I know what it means, I just dont know how what it has to do with owning a watch.

It’s the difference of owning an original di Vinici to hang on your wall or a good painting done by some college kid at a farmers market

Zenith

·

Is not a fair comparisson, those are used watches vs a brand new CW. The Zenith Defy is 11k brand new

Yeah good points Anthony! Until I tried on the Oris recently as a friend of mine is considering it, i never really had that one in my mind at all, but it really took me by surprise...even the fit considering how large it is. Amazing workmanship as well.

It’s perfectly fair. You can readily get one of those second hand. I was just comparing three very similar watches. One that came out yesterday

I get what you mean, but.

The Mona Lisa brings prestige to Da Vinci, not the owner. Zeniths prestige belongs to the brand, we just wear a product. Products that we own/wear/drive dont elevate us. We have to do that ourself.

It's a perfectly fair comparison because they're all selling for a similar price.

Zenith every day of the week and twice on a Friday.
