Datejust vs constellation manhattan

Hi I just want to hear everyone’s opinions on this interesting head to head what would you choose a stainless steel datejust or omega constellation manhattan

Of course the Manhattan, look at that gorgeous dial!

·

Omega definitely!

·

Omega.

Movement and prefer the style.

I'm not a huge fan of the current iteration of the DJ tbh - 4 and 5 digit references though … different story. The modern ones have lost a bit of their charm I reckon.

I feel the exact opposite about the Connie. The earlier examples of this particular evolution of the Constellation never appealed - but I like the recent examples.

... long winded way of saying Omega.

I'm not a fan of the newer Constellation models, I'm still stuck in this era I'm afraid;

I'd go for the Datejust 👍

Datejust.

·

Omega.

I'm an Omega Acolyte and it's the brand I own most, but the DJ w/ fluted bezel is the better watch for my preferences in aesthetics, so in this case the Rolex DJ.

I like the Manhattan - but it has never spoke to me, prefer the DeVille line for dress models.

I love both! My choice would be the DJ, but it’s a very close call.

Just my opinion, Omega. ImageImage

Smooth bezel datejust

If it has to be fluted then constellation

·

I’ve never personally held a constellation to chime in which is better, but I own a DJ and love it.

·

Surprisingly tough call. The bracelet is where I get hung up. Such a decisive bracelet on both available. I’d throw the Globemaster in the comparison as well.

Heck, I can’t decide. Good luck

·

If you have to choose… I would take the constellation.

·

If you haven’t already, I would check out the omega in person. Quite stunning, definitely makes a big difference in person.

From briefly handling both pieces, I would say the omega is gonna have a bit more presence(depending on date-just configuration) as the porportions are a bit chunkier than the date just and relies on striking color contrast to create presence.

Whereas if you go for the date-just, it will be a little more subdued and comfortable, unless you go for jubilee fluted bezel configuration; then I would say it’s just more comfortable but its main source of presence will come from high polished surfaces as appouse to color contrast with the Omega.

So overall, I would say the Omega has a more interesting movement but perhaps is just a touch less comfortable than the Rolex(also gonna depend on wrist size and clasp preference). Design wise, I think it just comes down to how you like a watch to create presence: do you like high polished surfaces or contrasting colors?

I love these Constellations. If I dressed up, or more formerly, often...I'd be all over this. Distinct & beautiful.

The DJ is just so pedestrian for my tastes. A big 'meh.'

·

Never held the omega, but own a Datejust…

enough said! DJ for me. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

·

Omega

·

Omega no contast

·

At this point in my collecting journey, neither. But gun on head, I'm going with the omega

·

The Manhattan is just a gorgeous piece!! Absolutely stunning!

·

I cast my vote for the Omega ☝️🤩🔥❤️

·

The Constellation, but it needs to go on a diet. That design needs to be under 12mm, ideally less than 10mm. But beyond that, it's gorgeous

·

I actually owned both a constellation manhattan in steel 35mm black dial as well as a Rolex Date 34mm black dial so I feel qualified to answer. I did a review on the Constellation and sold the watch since because I prefer the Rolex. I outlined that plan as part of the review actually.

Assuming by the question, you’re buying both (either) at an AD and they are being offered to you comparably priced.

Buy the DJ from the AD or the omega on the grey for cheaper.

Neither is a wrong answer per se. But buying a constellation at full price may be the closest to a wrong answer.

One other consideration. Do you have a Rolex? If not. Simple. Rolex. The mere fact Rolex is in the question shows you want a Rolex. And once you buy your omega over your Rolex. You’ll still want that first Rolex.

Omega for sure
