NWA and SOT(F)C

Yesterday was the day: I picked up my grail. The SBGA211.

The watch itself needs no introduction or explanation. Y'all know it and I wanted it. Badly. So the other day I drove 3h (one way) to pick it up personally. And what a ride it was.

Now I hold it in my hands and I can (safely) say that I'm at a point in my "collectors" journey where I consider my collection as "final", hence SOT(F)C.

Here's the mini-collection:

Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 – Green Dial

This watch is my true entry-point into the game of watches. The Quartz was my first "real" watch after wearing an Apple watch for a year and what an Odyssey it was. I had so many iterations of the PRX, including the Chrono, and so many issues with nearly all of them that now, with the one piece that's not plagued with issues that I just keep it for the sake of it. And this is the only watch that I can and will wear on the (original) Rubber Straps.

Grand Seiko SBGN003

This one was my first "luxury" watch that I bought after selling off all my other watches that I had at that time (including the massive PRX Chrono). This GS also was the start of my hunt for a reasonably priced SBGA211, after I devoured everything I could find about GS. The Snowflake, even though it may be the most prominent one, spoke to me on so many levels. Which led to the following...

Here it is: My "final" piece. I just love it. For in-depth reviews check out any video on YouTube. I just wanna enjoy it a little while longer...

And this is it: The humble "collection" I call my own since the 7th of October. (Not pictured is my G-Shock GA2100 Metal Utility Series)

Beautiful new addition. Wear it in good health..

Nice collection !

Although I do not own one, the SBGN003 is the watch that brought my attention to GS. It was in a store front window and I just could not believe the sparkle of the indices in the sun as I moved slightly to look at it. I already own a GMT so I am presently looking for GS with a blue dial which has a nice sunburst. This is is where I am at today.

Which one is in the collection?

Had the snowflake OG. It had a couple of flaws on the 4 and 6 o'clock polishing. I got the offer I couldn't refuse and sold it to my boss. Now I'm torn between the sea of clouds, the deep indigo, and the shubun. Two of them are in Delray watch at a great price. But this year I'm saving for my Santos.

You will eventually decide on the right one for you 🙏🏻

The F is in brackets 😅

Wonderful collection, very versatile and considered!

A GS is definitely in my near future. I maybe need to get a Hamilton first, mainly due to cash flow issues haha. But the spring drive hold fascination for me. I need to experience on my wrist!

At this point, I'm more interested in 'vintage' spring drive. Some of the older models that came out during 2005 - 2008. They still have the 'Seiko' 'Grand Seiko' logos. I find that funny. And you can get great deals on those!

To arrive at these three plus a G-Shock took some time, though.

Going from one Apple Watch up to 12 different watches at the „peak“ down to four was quite a journey but I’m happy where I’m at now.

I have thought more than once that double signed GS would be a great collecting area.

Yeah, I've been thinking it's from a short period on GS history; they were still figuring out their brand identity. It gives me a feeling of history and nostalgia. Crazy but true.
