The SOTC (that I'm quite happy with)

This is the current state of my humble collection. The one I’m quite happy with given what I’m willing to spend (or wait for) at the moment. There are some models on some kind of wishlist but these are well in the future. Two of these would be the Night Birch SLGA017 and the now discontinued blue motif dial on a Datejust.

Let dreams be dreams…

So here goes:

G-SHOCK GM-2100C-5A

This one is the watch for the real "heavy stuff" (whatever that may be some day), for cycling and the one "CasiOak" that I actually like. The plastic ones are, well, too plastic-y for me and the other metal versions are not as readable.

This reference is the most legible albeit the model line with the most useless strap, in my opinion. So this one went on an Ali-Rubberstrap.

Addiesdive AD2030

I bought this for the shits-and-giggles at 44€ delivered and let me tell you that if you can get it for that price or somewhere close to it: Get it (if you want).

You get a signed and threaded crown, a solid (end-)link bracelet, a milled clasp and a fantastic dial at that price point.

Everything else is, as you might imagine, pretty standard and "rough-around-the-edges", literally. Nonetheless, you can wear it worry-free and still have a low-key looker. Nothing more, nothing less. It will be my least worn watch , but only because of the ones following.

SEIKO SFJ001

I always wanted a Chrono and a Panda at that. So I took the most Panda of Panda-Chronos: The Solar SFJ001.

This one has a cool movement with the Solar 8A50 with a kind of novel way of presenting the Chrono function (check some videos of YouTube – The way the 1/100 hand is spinning is nuts).

Christopher Ward C60 Atoll

Here's my latest acquisition and I quite like it. I really wanted a diver but a "low-key" one. Nothing as flashy or Rolex-y as some of the other (micro-brand) divers out there. The Atoll Shark White always spoke to me. I liked the bezel and the color (Yes, I mostly have black and white watches).

So I bought it and I have to admit that the light catcher case is one of the best looking cases, in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of the bracelet because the clasp is quite big but, on the other hand, I really like the micro-adjust on the fly built into it. I guess you have to swallow one pill or the other.

Grand Seiko SBGN003

That was my first "luxury" piece and my most worn and the watch that I have in my collection for more than two years (wow).

I have not much to say about this watch except that I love it and it will (most likely) never leave the collection. It's stupidly accurate (it gained 1 (!) second over a period of six (!) months (!)) and it just looks stunning in person.

In short: It's a Grand Seiko

Grand Seiko SBGA211

This watch is and was my grail. And I've got it back in October and I still like it very much. The Spring Drive glide is unmatched but this is the one watch, because it's my most expensive one in the collection, that really underpins the comment I have in my bio: "... to attain something desired is to discover how vain it is." by Arthur Schopenhauer.

Nevertheless, I don't want to miss it and this is also one of the watches that (most likely) won't leave the collection. Yes, there's a lot of things I could've done with the cash instead of buying the Snowflake but I didn't. So that's that and now I have my grail and I love it.

SEIKO SBSA057

The best for last. No, really. I really love this watch and next to my SBGN003 this is my most worn watch. The thing is: I paid so much on top of it to make it the piece it is now, that it's basically not even the watch I bought originally. The model I have is the japanese version with a kanji date wheel, hence the SBSA reference. You can find the same one as the SRPE67. This is the model with the brushed bezel that only comes on the Seiko Nato, which brings me to the next point:

I have ALL the bracelets: Uncle Straps President and the Jubilee (pictured), Miltat Oyster and Jubilee (the one that doesn't taper) and I also bought the sapphire crystal because the Hardlex scratched somehow.

Its 4R movement, in my case, is also fantastic. It gains 2 seconds when worn and it loses 6 seconds over night, crown up. Regulating this thing to run almost always on point is the easiest thing. Having three mechanical watches, however, this "advantage" is lost when I'm switch, which I do a lot.

So, this is it. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't.

Do you have any suggestions?

There's effectively one open slot that I can still fill in my beautiful DailyWatch hexagonal case. The Addiesdive will be there temporarily, I guess ;)

Nice collection. If I owned the Grand Seiko SBGN003, my collection would stop with that.

All great pieces! My only recommendation is to add some color.. There's a lot of great green, blue, gold, orange dials in the wild world of watches. : )

That's the difficult part: I had so many colorful watches (what I classify as such: Dark Green, Dark Blue, Tiffany) and I never wore them long and sold them all off eventually.

The point where I'm at at the moment is that I only ever wear Black or White watches. Even the Addiesdive is a tad "too colorful" for me :D

Interesting, a purist! I love a good black or white dial too.
