Old wrists

I'm just turning 65. I have truly loved watches all my life and have worn some incredible pieces. I wonder your thoughts on the wrinkling old wrists I and everyone else will get? I've seen many photos and videos of really aged men, including myself that aren't really matching some sporty watches. I've been struggling but succeeding in not buying the latest greatest (new AD sports Tudors 20% discount). Have I reached the end of collecting? A beautiful watch looks much nicer on a younger, toned and tanned wrist.

Character and warmth. Young wrists don't have either.

·

65 is young and the watch looks great on you! Wear what you have in good health (that’s the most important), and keep on collecting!

·

Strong watch

·

Thanks all you watch people. I'm uplifted. I must remember the man makes the watch. The watch doesn't make the man. Same for women:)

·

There's a lot of experience and wisdom gathered over the years of one's life. The visual affects of aging signify you have something to share with the younger generations whether it be watches, life in general, or maybe even the thousands of years awaited definitive explanation for men on how women work. Heck, if having a masculine and finely chiseled forearm was required to post on-the-wrist pictures, pretty much the only guy on here qualified to put a picture up would be Catskinner. Don't think about the possible negatives so much and share your joy and experience with watches with the community.

P.S. Love your Tudor

·

I'm 62. It's funny, but I've always only seen the watch that's on my wrist.

·

Wow! That’s actually a Tudor that I really like. Don’t like snowflake or the Ranger hands so much of the range leaves me cold but I like yours heaps - a good choice.

·

Now don’t talk silly 😂

You must keep collecting it doesn’t matter about the condition of your wrist and indeed all styles of watches, with a slight caveat, don’t get them in super bright fluorescent colours go for the classic metallic Sheens of blue, green etc or should I say a little reserved in appearance?

Here’s some of mine that I intend to wear until I expire!😂

I’m 62 and I absolutely love divers so I’ll keep going!

·

I don't care about my age. I'm 60 and I'm wearing the watches that I like. Like an 8 year old! 🥳🤡😄

Your wrist look fantastic

Welcome to Watchcrunch by the way.

·

This is a funny topic to read... I'm 42 and about two days ago I was wondering: "Do I will still use the same watches I use now in 10, 20, 30 years?

Well, I don't know the answer... But is funny to see that other folks also think about it.

Thanks for the topic, mate!

A good old fella's wrist is like a perfectly unpolished timepiece. There's a wisdom and a depth to dermatological 'patina' that simply can't be faked.

I think seeing an old guy wearing something hot in the forums, like a 39 pelagos, is super cool.

Equally, old guys wearing vintage pieces seem far less contrived. (rightly or wrongly - you might have picked it up from chrono24 last week!).

I think you can wear what you like... excluding maybe iced out Hublots..

·

I'm 60. Perhaps I'm becoming a curmudgeon, but I personally don't give a flip what most people (with a very few exceptions) think anymore. I'll wear whatever I prefer, hopefully until I expire. Enjoy yourself and your collecting journey which I hope will continue for many years to come!

·

Have you reached the end of collecting? It depends on what you're sitting on. If you already have a bunch of watches, and fewer decades ahead of you than behind you, my thought would be to enjoy what you have in a real and meaningful so, yes, you might well be. Adding more and more watches when there's less and less time to wear them would be wasteful. None of this, you will note, relates to how your wrist looks!

·

I think the most important things are whrn you see hold and wesr the watch. As long as it makes you happy thats always going to be the final decision. The watch looks awesome on your wrist!

·

Sometimes older hands just look like an Enduring Love and the most Heartfelt Affection. Feeling Grateful.

That Tudor looks perfect on your wrist.

Firstly, I’m a little older than you are and I’m only commenting for me but why should I care about someone else’s wrist being less wrinkled or more tan? My watch my wrist. At this point in my life I know what I like, what I can afford and is the appropriate watch for the occasion. And I never really got much of a tan anyway.

I’ve found, thankfully so, in the last few years it’s more about me and my family and not so much about what others are all about, nice thing about getting old and changing priorities.

As long as it doesn’t clash with my age spots 😊, who cares what anyone (except my wife) thinks at this point in my journey? Wear what you like, buy what you like, the rest be damned, you’ve earned it. 😎

·

Wrists are like watches, they get more character as they age. Wear watches that you like and don't think about what others think about it. Besides, we are not interested on the wrists, we're looking for the watches.

·

Embrace wrinkles, grey hairs, arthritis and such as a privilege ! They represent life itself. Whatever watch you choose to wear is simply the accessory. Enjoy what YOU like

Some of the most inspiring and iconic works of art ever produced were of "old guys" with weathered skin. Take this painting by Norman Rockwell for example: it's entitled, "Breaking Home Ties." They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in the case of this painting, it's more like a million.

Weathered, wrinkled skin is a badge of honor. It means that even though your life may have been arduous, you're a survivor. There isn't anything wrong with having managed to stay on this side of the dirt for 65 years. 😎

Piss on that. It's your money, put whatever watch you like on your wrists (that said, we reserve the right to scoff and mock if you decide to get one of those dinner plates 50mm Invicta bling-bling watches that do double duty as Power Rangers morphers).

In my own defense, yes, Invicta watches run big, between 45 and 52 mm for their men's sizes (I know one guy who ONLY collects the 52mm watches!) but not all of them are gaudy / "blingy"; in fact, many of them are very traditional in style, and on my 8" wrist, they don't look like dinner plates 😜 (They still look big, but they fit me, because I'm a big guy.) 😀 For instance, my Invicta Sub-Aqua is a very eye-catching dive watch. Big? Yes. Blingy / Gaudy? Hardly. 😎 Of course, your mileage may vary. Cheers! 🍻

I do not think it matters.

My 96 year old father wears a gucci gold watch he absolutely adores. He will not take it off and it looks great on him.

Yeah, that's over the top. Some people like that sort of thing. But it's not my speed. 😎 But the good news is that Invicta has HUNDREDS of different models and configurations, i.e., they have something for everyone 😃

·

I rarely see an old wrist that doesn't have something classy on it on this site.

·

Hey man don’t sell yourself short. An “aged” wrist just shows where you’ve been and how hard you worked. You said you were done collecting and that’s fine depending on why? Because you think your wrist is too old looking please. I’m 59 and started collecting a couple of years ago, Rolex anyway, So you keep on keeping on till you’re 100!!!!

·

I think "older wrists" will rock gold/mixed gold watches!

·

My uncle was a Navy pilot way back in the day, and still sports a TT Breitling. At this point, he's in his 80s and it way overpowers his wrist. But as worn as it is, it is completely appropriate for a man with his experience, at his age.

I don't think I'll age out of my BB36.
