New Baltic Collection Hermétique

Looks like this has just been announced. Looks quite nice at first glance:

  • Field watch

  • 4 colours

  • Automatic Miyota 9039

  • 37mm Case

  • 20mm lugs

I think I like the brown myself… How about The Crunch?

I love these. I’m going with green.

·

Blue blue blue! (Pimped with an orange silicone diver’s strap)

·

Beautiful I love the beige

·

A brown strap might work well with the beige dial.

·

Baltic's design language wins again, although I would have really preferred a manual movement. But is the Miyota 9039 movement in the Hermetique truly worth the almost €200 premium over the Miyota 8315 that's offered in the HMS?

·

love the colors! Not sure I could pick one over another

Yeah manual would have been cool but I think in a field watch automatic is arguably more suitable. But the added slimness would have been cool

·

I like how the crown is tucked away!

·

I hope the release the straps in the shop. I won’t be buying this now, but I’d like the beige strap for my HMS-002!

·

Why are the lugs so long?

·

Ivory would scratch an itch.

Why are the lugs so long?

To be compatible with the existing bracelets

Saw these in person last week.

The blue and brown were my favourites. The brown really gave off a tobacco patina vibe.

The crown is not screwdown.

As a side note: it was mentioned that the perpetual calendar up for auction at OnlyWatch may get a limited release depending on the final hanmer price. Its likely to be well into five figures (£s) though….

Well, a Miyota is definitely an improvement on the Hangzhou micro rotor in terms of quality, serviceability and accuracy.

Personally I would always rather go for an actual vintage sector dial watch, which would cost much less even factoring in the price of a service and would mean I had the genuine, original, vintage article rather than a good, if very oversized, tribute act. That does require patience and hunting on ebay and is not for everyone.

For example these three, all bought working for under $30 each. Servicing will be another $200 or so each.

The first and last also have historically interesting movements.

First is a bumper automatic developed from the Harwood movement - the world's first automatic wristwatch movement, which predates the Rolex perpetual. It's why Rolex's marketing to this day is very carefully worded claiming the first automatic with a rotor, not the first automatic.

Third is a Bidynator, the first bidirectional winding automatic movement - something the Baltic's Miyota doesn't have 😉.

Oh and the second has a solid rose gold bezel inlay - it's a Vertex Revue with a sterile dial.

All three have waterproof/resistant stainless steel cases which were rare and pricey in the 30s and 40s.

I picked up a Aquascaphe recently. Nice watch and very accurate. 37mm is a bit too small for my liking.

·

Wonderful colors and a great addition to the Baltic lineup!

·

What I think is cool is that they’ve managed to do all good colours. There’s no clear favourite from the comments that I’m picking up on! 👏🏻👏🏻

Ivory would scratch an itch.

I mean beige...

·

I really like them. Especially the cream and brown. The indexes being made of lume is modern, the style is still classic, I like the railroad minute track and syringe hands for accurate time telling. The black ring around the dial is classy and the nicely shaped sapphire crystal is a win. Recessed crown is maybe the only thing I’m indifferent about but it’s unusual. 150m water resistance is great.

I’m vaguely in the market for a field watch and this just got on that vague list alongside the Hamilton khaki pilot pioneer mechanical (white dial).

I’m not a movement expert but I guess Miyota is reliable?

Price seems fair.

I like what I see

·

I'm curious about what makes them a "tool" watch, other than the fact that that's what Baltic calls them?

·

Not sure about the dots at 3,6,9 and 12. Otherwise not a bad design

·

These are good looking. For my style, these might be the nicest looking watches in their collection either right above or right below the Aquascaphe Dual Crown. I also dig syringe hands. This design is a winner for me. The Creme is my favorite. Paired with a brown strap, that thing would be killer.

·

I like them a lot, and the lug to lug is not an issue for me: 6.5” wrist. The brown dial is the front runner for me 👍

·

I love the look of these. I haven't added a 3-6-9 dial to my collection yet, and I've always had an eye on Baltic. I'm thinking about the green one because I have so much blue already, but I'm still on the fence because I'm not sure how a 37mm will look on my 8" wrist. The 46mm lug-to-lug makes me feel a bit better. Decisions, decisions...

·

The recessed crown is a nice touch.

My preferred color choice would be in this order: Blue, Green, Brown then Beige

·

What's the l2l on these?

·

They seem very “ cardigan”
