Travel Watch Addition

I want to add a GMT watch to wear when I travel and would like some opinions! You can see my current collection in the photo.

I'm considering either the Sinn 105 or Longines Spirit Zulu Time. Usually, when I travel, I'm doing hikes and wandering and/or wandering around a city. I have a smaller wrist so I'm HOPING Longines releases a smaller version of the Zulu Time. It's a damn handsome watch. I think the Sinn would stylistically diversify the collection a bit too though. Any thoughts? Anything else I should consider?

You need to consider whether you want a caller or flyer GMT movement. The Sinn is the former, the Longines is the latter. Given that the stated purpose is travel, I’d suggest the Zulu time.

·

I can't recognize all watches on your pictures (little bit blurry or I need glasses :-) )

But the Zulu should be fine.

Depend where you are traveling I can also recommend the AquaSport GMT watches from Circula. It's a traditional german watchbrand from Pforzheim. They do some great watches.

My vote is for the Sinn to diversify the collection since a lot of what you have seems to be beating to a similar beat. Maybe a 9F quartz gmt Grand Seiko like a SBGN003 or 005 And those are fairly small lug to lug compared to a lot of GS. My other suggestion would be something like a Farer GMT (but not sure if that’s too out there and colorful for you) . . . The Crooms II has pop while being somewhat classic and vintage at the same time.

You picked the right year for GMTs...they are all over the place.

My favorite for inclusion in your collection based on consistency of quality would be...

The Grand Seiko Toge...just look at that golden GMT hand...

Tudor GMT with the new opaline dial?

·

i would go for sinn just to add more variation to the current collection

·

That Oris is class

·

The Longines is a really nice looking watch. It was a little big with the lug to lug length for my 6.25 inch wrist, but if you have a larger wrist and can try it on, I think it’s a really cool piece🙌🏻

The Sinn makes a good hiking watch. The bead blasted finish is pretty Scratch resistant. 6.5 in wrist.

·

Its the Sinn... for sure. Is the U2 too big?

I would suggest the CW C63 Sealander GMT, also in the white dial variant. It would add some British flair, a white dial and a well established Microbrand to your collection. This photo shows the watch on the OEM leather strap, but the bracelet is very good.

This Sinn 105 is IMO very nice, yet my gut feeling tells me he dial would become boring after some time... for me.

I'd say the Longines, but them I am somewhat biased...

Casio :)

·

Zulu is great but more on larger size and a bit more dressy too. I would propose BB Pro, great looking watch and it can handle the beating

This is a great looking GMT and for the cost offers great value for money. I have been considering buying this for a while.

Or the Nomos Glasshute Zurich Weltzeit. 🙂

Personally my choice is the Tudor GMT. A quality and rugged watch that wont be the end of the world if it gets lost or broken. JMO

Seiko Landmaster Kinetic on a 6.25” wrist here.

Traveler GMT, full titanium, and built tough enough for Antarctic exploration.

I recently pre-ordered the Lorca Model 1 GMT. I just love the design that evolks classic watches, but also feels modern. 200m wr, caller GMT, 36mm (37mm with the fixed bezel), beautiful bracelet with interesting end links that is robust, but can also dress up. It's a new independent brand, but I've not seen anything quite like it out there.

Now I just need to wait until November to get it. But if you look around, you'll find a few great reviews.

Love your collection BTW!

Also, to tide me over until my new Lorca arrives, I got the Seiko 5 GMT in Orange, and REALLY like it!

U2 is one of the biggest bands in the world, no? Kidding aside, I think the Sinn U2 is a bit too big for my limp, lilliputian wrist. 😀

It would Rattle and Hum on your wrist.

As an owner of a Zulu Time, my suggestion is one of those. As JBird posted, it is a flyer GMT which I prefer even though I don’t travel much. I have a caller GMT too, and I think the flyers are way easier to set.

Damn I missed out on ordering the Lorca GMT - it is a distinctively understated tool watch - it was the only 36mm GMT I knew of until Farer just released their 36mm GMT series (in the past week) which seem more dressy compared to the Lorca which would be more hard wearing.

·

Get what you enjoy more and don´t just focus on specs.

I think the Longines looks better but i own the Sinn 856 UTC and i love it.

The 856 is fully tegimented and wears very comfortable on small wrists.

I do love the Farer (I have the Lander IV in the original 38mm and it's one of my favorites), and while the Lorca has tool watch credentials (200m wr), I feel like it has a dressy vintage vibe as well. Especially in the champaign/silver dial (which is the one I'm getting). They say they'll be taking orders again in November if it's still holding your interest!

I actually agree, though I know a lot don't. It just seems really intuitive to me to set the GMT and the minute hand, then push the crown in a click and set the Hour.

I confuse myself when I go to adjust one of the "callers"I have and end up with hands all over the place!

·

Love the connection! Def drumming up some good choices too. Not sure if you’ve heard of Oak & Oscar, but their Humboldt GMT is a killer watch for the money. I wear mine all the time! The team there is incredible to work with too.

I was going to say the Zulu time as well and on the Leather Strap. I see you only have the Nomos Club Campus on a non-bracelet and I think if you added the Longines on a bracelet it would not differentiate as well with your collection. The Zulu time with green bezel and leather strap will add the vintage variety and differentiator you are looking for. Nothing wrong with another tool watch, I especially love German watch brands, but as an addition and travel, go leather strap Longines.

·

Some beautiful Grand Seiko possibilities here. Out of the two you listed, I would pick the Longines Zulu Time. Beautiful watch with some nice colour options. It is not a boring watch and will complement your current collection. I recommend the anthracite dial with green bezel. It is fairly unique and the gilt just pops on that dial. Alternatively, the blue is just gorgeous. I love seeing it out in the sunlight, just lovely shine on it. Well finished watches for a great value.
