Hello

Hi Everybody,

Just recently got back in to watches thanks to a friend on the forum here.  Like a lot of people I stopped wearing a watch once I got my first iPhone.  A little about myself, long time computer nerd, I started with a TRS-80 in the 80s programming basic and my true passion has always been cars and computers.  I have what I call a busy mind, so I love to have something to learn and research to keep me busy.  I've done everything with cars from aftermarket stereos in the 90s to performance modifications starting in the early 2000s.  Since I started driving, I absolutely love automotive detailing, and I've tried almost every major product over the years. I have all the professional gear from steamers, extractors, to DA polishers.  I kind of hit the limit of what I could learn there and my cars are always clean.  So watches was a great new hobby to dive into and it's amazing what there is to learn and see. I started with the quartz Tissot Gentlemen a month or so back, and I picked up a Casio Dio at the same time to wear to the pool, wash the cars, hike, camp etc...  Looking forward to learning from the community here!

I hope you're not overestimating us.  I think of us more like a merry band of watch buying degenerates 😊

Welcome!

Thank you!  Well....I kind of jumped in pretty fast, quickly found 5 other watches in the last month to pick up.  Watch buying degenerates sound like my kind of people 😊  I'll post some of those in the future on what's on my wrist.   I'm trying to slow down, I picked up a caliper, and spring-bar tools so I can have fun swapping straps.

Welcome and Enjoy!

Throw this one back.  He came addicted already! 😂😊😂😊

I'll look forward to WRUWs of your collection.

Welcome to WatchCrunch.  Your Tissot is great.  Soon you will have an incredible watch collection and you'll be taking advances on your credit cards to buy the next watch and that's okay as long as you impress us on your way to the poor house.

Impressive mirror polish on the Honda!

5 watches in a month sounds like my kind of people, I'm hailing here at 47 in 2 years, only sold 3 so far. Looking forward to seeing more from you (and that S2000 my my, so shiny 😍)

Welcome! You are getting on board fast, 5 in a month! Nice ride too. Here’s a hello from my Tissot:

It’s taken in my Cooper S convertible, not your S2000 by any means, but still fun.

Welcome!!!

Welcome! Tissot makes great watches!

·

Welcome. Just be aware that if you ever ask here the question: "should I but watch X or watch Y?" you will typically get the answer: both.  Also typical is the answer: "buy watch Z" instead, where - depending on who makes the recommendation - Z is either way too pricey, or supercheap of often questionable heritage.

·

Welcome! Can‘t wait to see both some watch pics and car pics!

Thank you!  I surprisingly filled my 6 bay watch box faster than expected, I figured 6 spots would last me a while.  I'm typically pretty frugal, frugal to a fault sometimes.  I have had a bit of encouragement from my wife to spend a bit on myself, it's been good!  47 is impressive and I understand, there are just so many choices.  Great to meet another motor head and watch enthusiast!!

Thank you for the warm welcome!  Great to meet another car enthusiast.  The Cooper S is a great choice and is on my list of cars to own.  Small, nimble, quick and perfect for the back twisty roads.  Plus you have rear seats, that's a bonus!

I just wanted to thank you all for the replies and warm welcome here.  Such a great community!

An S2000 picture as requested.  I've owned it since it was new (2007) and had 2 miles on it.  I left it stock until 2020 and with the pandemic I decided I needed to freshen it up a bit.  Ohlin coilovers, Tanabe exhaust, Enkei wheels and and AFE Taketa intake.  The suspension brought the car back to life, better than new!

Thank you for the welcome!  He kept asking when I was going to do my intro post 😀  We've evolved our weekend drives from cars and coffee to watches, cars and coffee.

I feel like the passion for tech, cars and watches are a great mix.  I wish I hadn't waited so long to jump in.

welcome to WatchCrunch my friend

That's a good friend, welcome.

Welcome!! It's good that you've returned to watches, I'm like you with a busy mind and I need to have several hobbies, but watches have been a constant in my life, I've been collecting them and growing in this world since I was 15 years old obviously starting in vintage watches and now I have 17 years of experience in this beautiful hobby.
