Complete my 5 watch collection

I’m looking to complete my five watch collection! Almost all of these watches have been gifts, giving them a lot of sentimental value. However, one spot is looking very empty and ripe for the choosing!

  • Tag Heuer Aquaracer 300: given by my father-in-law on my wedding day

  • Orient Bambino: given by my parents on one of my birthdays

  • Seiko SNK809: one that I bought after seeing a great deal on it. But contemplating if I want to upgrade to a Hamilton khaki field later in the future

  • Casio CA53W-1: It's a watch I've bought over and over again. After I broke my last one, my sister gifted this particular one to me.

What would you add to finish the collection? What type of watch would it be? Any specific one in particular?

I’ve been thinking about a GMT or a more plain white-faced watch like a junghans. Or maybe leaving that spot for a grail watch (though I don't have one in mind yet). So many choices... But I guess a good problem to have 😀

That looks like a spot a nice chronograph could cover. Quartz or mechanic is up to you, but given that you mentioned Junghans, the Chronoscope Max Bill would be a cool addition.

·

I like your idea of holding the spot for a future TBD grail. That said you mentioned both a GMT and thinking of a white dial watch. I just picked one up that fits the profile of your collection. Here is the Seiko Presage SPB 223:

A DW5610 or GM2100 would be a great addition and give you chronometer functions and world times.

If you don’t like the G-Shock looks, but like the Max Bill (as I do as well) also look into Iron Annie and Zeppelin which have similar offerings to Junghans at a lower price point (they aren’t cheap but they cost a third/half of most comparable Junghans).

·

Chronograph or pilot watch would be my picks. Hamilton Khaki Pilot Day Date. But I'm a bit biased as I have one on my wrist right now.

·

Nice collection you have there. I would add a GADA -- maybe a Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic?

·

Agree with the chronograph suggestion if you like them and would wear it (and need to time things). One thing missing that I really like in my collection is having a radio controlled watch - the treat being that I never have to look far if I am setting one of my other watches out of the box. There’s loads of choice out there, e.g. Citizen CB1120-50L or Casio Oceanus OCW-S100-1AJF or OCW-T200S-7AJF, but you could combine the chronograph and the radio controlled if you like. I’d also recommend solar over battery as then you really only have to set it once and enjoy it. Possibly go for a white dial (i you like a white dial) as you have black dial options already?

·

A chronograph with a 24/12 hour bezel so that your GMT needs are taken care of as well. I'd say start looking at Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster.

·

I'd say a chronograph and a G-Shock (either a 5600/5610 or a 2100).

As mentioned, a chronograph with a 12-hour bezel is a good idea. I think Dan Henry makes some that look very nice and are fairly priced.

·

Not knowing your budget but seeing what you have and what you mentioned; If you’re thinking of a GMT you could swing for the Seiko Presage GMT. Beautiful dial, operates like a “true GMT”, has a power reserve and just a great all-around watch that can go with a lot of outfits depending on the dial you get. Can snatch one up between $1,100 and $1,400. Reference SPB303. Also comes with a decent leather strap if you want to make it dressy.

Haha, recommended a different color of this as well. Such a great watch for the money!

You even have a calculator watch. Mad props. Cool collection.

I have a SNK803) It was my first mechanical watch. Got it in 2020.) Looking back I'd rather went with a white dial Khaki field, so that's why I've bought a Murph 38 a while ago.)

What do you like to wear the most in this collection? You have a different watch styles - super cool Casio, kinda everyday dressy Orient, field Seiko and a steel sports Heuer watch. Different genres, a lot of variety. I guess now it's perfect time to focus on something you like the most in your box.

If you like the Tag - maybe you can get a sporty chronograph. But if you really into divers - a second diver with a different dial colour could make this box complete. GMT is another great option. Lorier Hyperion is on my list and I kinda obsessed with it now, Baltic aquascaphe is a stunner, Monta Atlas, Strat-o-timer by Jack Mason - the list goes on. Due to introduction of two pretty affordable Japanese GMT movements you now may kill two birds with one stone. Get yourself nice sports desk GMT and introduce a micro brand in your collection, since micro brands are taking huge advantage of utilising Seiko and Miyota movements. And if you like a feel of a dive watch - GMTs share the same design traits with a turning bezels and case shapes.

If you find yourself more into Seiko and Orient territory, maybe a GADA watch will fancy you. Maybe the mentioned Murph 38, or Longines Spirit, or even Longines Legend Diver. Longines is a super great brand, and their catalog is worth looking at.

Or maybe you want to expand your horizons a bit and get a square/rectangular watch. Seiko 'tank', Oris Rectangular (very interesting Art Deco watch), Bulova, Nomos Tetra. Maybe a Heuer Monaco to stay in the family? I know Monaco is expensive, but maybe it's your grail who knows. I think you can pull of the Tank-style watch with a suit or with a plain white t-shirt and some casual chinos/pants or even jeans. At least that's what I do with my Raymond Weil 5768. Yeah it's a bit more delicate and I won't be swimming with it, but i 100% can wear it in every scenario and it would fit super great.

Also I think you should look at Farer. Their dial colors are next level and their designs are spot on. They have a chronographs and GMTs on their line-up, so whatever complication you can think about - they got you covered.

·

in my opinion most G-shocks can fill the role perfectly, of course there are the fan Favorits but really if it fits and you like the look of it then it's a match, if you want something really unique and cool you can go on the hunt for vintage g-shocks

and i second all the chronos, GMTs and GADA watches suggestions

·

If you looking for a GMT also with a white dial, I can recommend the C63 GMT from Christopher Ward.

·

A Tudor or Hamilton could fit nice in there

·

Maybe a patek nautilus to tie it all together

·

Hey, nice collection. Here are some suggestions:

-something square

-a watch from a micro brand, like Orion or Lorier

-Birth year watch

·

Maybe a pilots watch? Something form Fortis? A Sinn 900 Chronograph? Omega Speedmaster?

Maybe a Lunar Pilot

·

Great collection. I would probably go for something fun or vibrant. Might I suggest a Brew Metric, Seiko 5Sport GMT SSK005 or Tissot PRX (Either the quartz mint or powermatic 80 in glacier blue).

If it's a white face you want, then maybe a Seiko Speedtimer Chrono, Raven Airfield or Junghans Max Bill

·

Seiko 5 GMT (every collection needs a GMT), or a Tissot PRX/Gentleman to tick off the “everyday” category.

Chronograph would also fit. Seiko Prospex Solar Speedtimer?

·

Nice collection

·

Depends if you want to surpass the value or less than the value of your TAG . Nice little collection:)

·

Very hard to answer. Because we don't know your budget and your overall style.

So, based on your informations you seems to be more young with a more limited budget.

In that case here are some recommendations:

Orient RA-TX0203S with solar movement (I guess Seiko).

One of the Seiko Speedtimers solar

One of the Seiko Cocktailtimers.

Seiko SRPG03J1

Or Tissot PRX Quartz white brushed dial

Frederique Constant Classic Index Automatic or Quartz. Their finishings are exquisit and the applied indexes are looking sharp.

Longines Conquest VHP Quartz

Tissot Gentleman

Citizen NJ0150

If you still can find under 1K the distinguished Junghans Spektrum Automatic with an Grand Seiko movement (I wrote an article about).

If you want something more exotic:

Wise Adamascus AD8

I find the correct answer to this question is always the same: Omega Aqua Terra, blue in your case.

·

I think the next step should be a Speedmaster. It ticks off some boxes: grail (potentially) entry into “luxury”, chronograph, and with a little effort can find a really really good used one for not a tremendous amount of money. Every watch guy I know either has a speedy or had one. Or they jumped right to a Daytona. I have three Speedys and have unlike some other brands I have multiple of, never once do I think “ one of these has got to go.”

·

Chrono or GMT

·

Some kind of a chrono panda, Hamilton, Seiko, there are several and the sky’s the limit on how much you can spend. Of course a Grail can be just what you need too. My Grail is the Speedy, which I’m wearing now. Oh ya, BB GMT, the new one with a white face is awesome, wish I could trade mine for white.

You need an Invicta Gladiator.

Doesn't everybody?
