Tudor or Omega? Black Bay 41 or Seamaster 300m?

Hello, just want some honest opinion on these watches. I am looking for a dive watch and I am always caught in between this 2 brands and watches.

Both brands have great history and heritage. Comparing the watches itself, I love both of them aesthetically but value wise is leaning towards the Tudor Black Bay 41 especially now they come with the new METAS Certified movement at a lower price point compared to the Omega Seamaster 300m. But the finishing for the Seamaster 300m seems more superior than the Black Bay 41.

I don't fancy the non tapering bracelet of the omega compared to the new 5 link bracelet of the Black Bay, but the case of the Omega looks so iconic. In a real dilemma.....

Will be much appreciated for some honest opinions which can help me decide which to get.

I’d go for the SMP300. Two words. James Bond. 😁

I have these two …

Comfort and wearability… the titanium wins… but if your thinking of the slightly smaller new case on the Tudor BB can’t tell ya but I did have the older version which I traded a while back.. this one…

This watch is a chunky beast.. wearable but chunky!! And heavy!!

·

SMP. Without question.

·

I’ve come close to buying the Omega Seamaster especially the NTTD. I’ve tried it on multiple times. I even pulled out credit card to pay once… but it just did sing well enough for me. It came down to the wearing experience… I just couldn’t help but notice the watch on my wrist. Not the weight per say but not just how it sat there…. I opted to the BB instead which feels perfect.

·

I’d pick the Tudor. Just my own personal taste. Prefer the look of the Tudor over the Seamaster. The new bracelet completes it imo. You can’t go wrong with either tbh. And now they’re quite similarly priced, used Seamaster and a new Tudor. If possible try to get hands on with both before making a decision.

·

Red bezel, no helium valve, jubilee bracelet. Three reasons to choose Tudor.

·

Tudor. Such a fantastic watch

·

I’ve got both Tudor and Omega at the minute, I had the old “smily BB” red bezel but currently have BB58 Blue and the SMP in Green. Both amazing watches and you can’t do wrong with either, for me the SMP is slightly better finished, but unless someone has their eyes only a foot away from the watch you could never tell.

Hold out for a few hours because Tudor got a new release coming later this afternoon! Check their website 😉

Omega

·

Omega easily. Different league.

Plus with the Tudor you'll always get that Rolex wannabe vibe.

·

That helium escape valve is a deal breaker for me.

I have the Tudor, the dial at an angle in lower light conditions is just stunning.

·

Seamaster is the best choise in my opinion far more interesting watch to look at you will lose hours to just seeing how it plays with the light you will never get bored of looking at it. While bracelet doesn’t taper it does balance the the watch perfectly and makes it very comfortable to wear

·

Black bay. Bracelet isn’t from the 90s and while I love omega, they really need to hide the helium escape valve better. Just sticks out too far.

·

Personal taste. Both great. Go for what looks more appealing.

·

SMP all the way my friend. It has the 8800 movement in it. I owned a Planet Ocean with the same movement and it ran at +1sec every 3 days. No way the Tudor will keep up just on this alone.

·

Seamaster! I speak from experience it's the better watch 👍

·

Both great watches. A good mate of mine has the Seamaster and I have spent lots of time staring at it BUT I don't get on with the bracelet and I find it on the heavy side.

I own a Pelagos and a PO1 so I'm into the industrial and less blingy design of those Tudors

So inevitably if I were you, which I'm not I would go Tudor ( and buy an interesting microbrand with the money you save!)

·

If it were my money? The Seamaster. There are aftermarket bracelets, mesh, rubber and NATO/single pass straps if the original bracelet isn’t to your fancy. I like the original just fine though, great adjustable clasp.

But, it’s your money, so let’s us know what you decide, and pics when you get it!

I can’t speak for Tudor, but I had that same Omega and had the worst experience when it came to have it serviced. They sent the watch back and it was losing about a minute a day. I was told that it would cost me another 3-500$ to have it looked at again. I told them to stuff it and sold it on EBay!

·

I don’t have personal experience with either so this is just an gut feel. I like Omega.

·

I have a black bay 58, a friend of mine has the seamaster 300.

Now I am somewhat biased here but I prefer the tudor I don't know how the new strap and the micro adjustable buckle wear but if the quality of the bb58 bracelet carries over it must be amazing. Also the vintage look and overall execution on rudor is superb.

Omega is great too but for me the dial is too shiny, it's polished cetamic, and the bezel doesen't really have grip. Also the clasp is enormeous. Like, it's easily 2 inches long and very wide and thick aswell.

·

I’m voting for the Tudor. That red is so pretty.

·

Seamaster is so versatile

·

OK... I own Omega and Tudor watches, so not only do I have firsthand experience with the brands, I have firsthand experience with both, as an owner. And I would say... the Seamaster. It's sex-on-a-stick. The Tudor is a nice, solid watch, but the whole Black Bay thing has been done to death. And while Omega 300m divers are hardly rare in themselves, they've always retained a freshness that somehow eludes the Tudor.

·

If cost were not a consideration, I would pick the Seamaster but with a white dial.

But, both of these watches are more than capable and it all comes down to what you value the most and which one gives you that Aha! moment when you try it on. The only way you can make a wrong decision here is to take our opinions at the expense of your own.

·

You really can't go wrong with either Tudor or Omega, but if you really want something that stands out apart from the traditional Rolex mantra when your in a setting where it's expected, the Tudor will have the respect, the Omega will be the outlier that is well respected and on par with the others. Just my

·

I vote Omega, but, that's just my thought. In the end, it is whatever makes you smile more. Image

·

The Rolex step-cousin, second fiddle factor will always deter me from Tudor. The red looks great though.

And that Omega bracelet is very comfortable.

·

Tudor. Based purely on aesthetics. Omega doesn't do it for me. Helium escape valve is awkward. Bracelet doesn't taper. Skeletonized hands, not for me. Just my humble opinion though.

·

See, this is a perfect case of Rolex being strategic. Using Tudor as the defense to take out Omega whilst they soar into the distance. The entire point of Tudor going METAS was to create this dilemma.

Im not even mad, its pure genius.

Honestly, it comes down to the looks and wearability to you personally.

The watches themselves are perfectly fine, i would go with the Tudor if power reserve and bezel action matters. If you care about long service periods than the omega wins.

If youre talking about “looks” then i think Omega has more of a selection.

If you havent really subscribed to a particular “trend” then come join the Omega fan base!
