Do you wear expensive watches to the beach?

Watches for the beach, I do not know about you but as much as it is 200 meters I find it hard to think of taking my expensive watches to the beach, for that I have the gshock, but I have always wanted to have one that would meet the goal about 100-300 dollars and that would not hurt me to bathe with it or fill it with dirt, orient kamasu or citizen promaster I think it will be the solution. Do you do the same? Or you bathe quietly with your tudor, seiko, rolex, omega longines etc.

I personally like to use my watches as it’s meant to be used. Feeling totally fine swimming with my Seamaster Professional. For me it’s an exciting idea for a watch to go anywhere: pool, river, ocean. After all it doesn’t look like a big challenge for Seamaster that was built to handle the depths of 300 meters. As for the dirt or sand seems like not a big deal as you can easily wash the watch.

I seldom wear watches at the beach but when I do it's my GW-M5610U.

I'm just not comfortable with the idea of losing an expensive watch in the sea or getting it snatched from my wrist by a beach bum.

·

It depends on the watch, not much on brand or price.

I feel fine bashing my SMP300 in outdoor activities because I bought it exactly for that purpose. Scratches are welcome.

But I only wear JLC Polaris when the risk of bashing it is low because it looks better without scratches in my opinion.

·

I don't mind taking my divers to the beach. But they're all Vostok's, I think they can handle it.

·

I wear my SMP to the beach, in the sea, in swimming pools etc.

it’s what it was made for!

·

I have no probs taking my watches to the beach and swim in them ,that's what they were made for

·

If you buy a watch that’s built for the water it shouldn’t matter what price range it’s in. Get them wet, get them sandy. It all washes off. Put them to the test in the element they were made for I say.

·

Of course! why not?

up down and all around :)

Damn. Made me realise I haven't been to the beach for quite awhile. Casio Duro is my beach buddy always.

·

Hmmm, well i guess the question is relative. Is it an expensive watch design for diving and sports, then the answer is yes. Now, if the watch is expensive because it's a piece of art design to look pretty and classy, then the answer is no... In that case i wouldn't even wear a $10 watch that wasnt design to handle water or sports; wouldn't necessarily have to be an expensive watch.

Going to the beach today for couple of days, bringing my Hydroconquest that can handle sea and nice dinner attire. Otherwise for summer vacation I usualy don't wear a watch during the day as I hate white strap on my skin lasting till winter

·

I don't go to the beach often (which is a shame) but I would rather rock my Casio Duro than my Black Bay. Not really for the depth rating which is way more than sufficient for both, but I would feel bad brushing the case of the Tudor in abrasive sand

·

I prefer this Save the Ocean Turtle on a rubber strap for salt water days. It still looks great for traipsing around resorts and beach towns especially when I don't want to sport a Submariner. Very easy to replace preowned for less than $300.

I'd leave the beach and ocean to my G-shocks. However, I would wear the Tudors and SMP to a pool, jacuzzi or bath tub. 😜

·

I have a Unimatic on a tropic strap for the beach (or anything active and not swimming pool-based). Screw-down crown, massive water resistance and it's built like a tank.

Seeing as I live 500 meters to the beach (not kidding, some days if it's quiet I sleep to the sound of the surf) any watch I wear inevitably is beach wear.

·

I don't own an expensive watch. A trip to the beach would include a G-Shock.

They are great watches too.

·

The water isn’t the issue for me….it’s the sand interfering with the bezel rotation. Panzera on rubber strap for the beach.

·

Other than a few splashes it didn't get much water time, but it handled the sand castles like a champ

The one on my PADI is off just a tiny fraction, but its just enough to drive my OCD crazy. I like to joke that my Steeldive has a better bezel than my "real" Seiko, and it does. I wish I had known abut the "Save the Ocean" model when I got mine. I love that dial.

The Steeldive is truly remarkable. So much for so little and more attention to QC than many other watchmakers. I often buy preowned Seikos in person so I get to check for the notorious misalignment issue however I frequently post pics without centering the bezel which is just lame in hindsight. I've seen the STO Turtle preowned for as little as $225 on fleabay though I only paid $200 for mine on OfferUp then added the tropical strap from StrapsCo.

Who doesnt have the Classic 200 USD Tudor Pelagos ;)

My beach and general vacation watch since I have it:

Absolutely! Don't forget to rinse with fresh water afterwards... 😉

·

Agree!

I use my Victorinox Diver or Luminox to go to the beach. I have Omega & Breitling Diver watches but I couldn't stand to look at them dirty of sand

White/blue Casio MRW-200H arrived so now I’m ready for the beach. ☀️😎🌊

·

I usually go with my lil Seamaster 300mm

·

Yes I do 👍🏻

I recently brought my dark manta to the beach. As long as the watch is rated for it, it shouldn't be a problem. That said, I get what you mean. I wouldn't really bring a super expensive piece to the beach to avoid losing it, effectively ruining the trip.

"Like any device subjected to errors in installation or exposure to high stresses, O-rings too are liable to failure. Different materials of O-rings have different shell life. Shell life for materials like natural rubber, polybutadiene and polyurethane (millable) usually have a shell life of five years whereas, materials like HNBR, Butyl and Nitrile have a shell life of fifteen years."

All the watch brands use the cheap black ones.

A 6 year old bullet proof watch can fail in the water.

·

Yup.

I've taken both expensive and non expensive watches to the beach, swimming, snorkeling, etc. These two shots here are from the same trip in the Caribbean. Seiko SLA057 as well as the fantastic DressKX.
