Billion dollar question…

Does being on WatchCrunch make you want to buy more watches? I am generally happy for everyone who has the watch or watches they own, but man, is it hard to resist imagining if you’ve had some of the killer watches we all see here each time we log in. And I feel like I’m being disloyal to my collection, or favs in my collection. IT IS HARD! Does anyone else experience this? Or am I the crazy one?

A little man in my head makes me buy more watches. He also enjoys WC.

I’m not sure if I answered your question?

·

Being on here doesn’t make me want to buy watches, that happens anyway. But it does increase awareness of new possibilities.

·

Hmmm that depends on your grail watch. If you have that 1 or 2 grail watch on your collection. Then i think the itch is would be out already.

As for me, i have my grail watches already. So im done buying. At least for the rest of the year.

Also i love seeing the community share their collections or journey. Remember its all bout the journey. And also getting expose to different brand.

·

Yes and no. Funny enough it makes me avoid some watches (not saying which) but you do see a few, especially vintage ones that if ever to cross my path would love to get.

·

It doesn't trigger me as much as Instagram and YouTube.

·

I enjoy looking at everyone’s watches and engaging with people. Since being on Watch Crunch, I’m starting to realize I need to actually slow down. I have about a dozen watches, rotating daily, but even then, I don’t get to wear them as often.

I think ima spend more time wearing what I have, and take time on anything else

·

Too many great watches in the world. Seeing them and talking about them is enabling an illness.

·

I have always liked watches and the machines inside them. I caught the bug in February of 2022 and then proceeded to buy 21 watches in the next 12 months.

Before I was on the Crunch, I already had 15 watches, 6 of which I had bought just prior to joining the Crunch

Prior to joining the Crunch, the most I, myself, spent on a watch was $85 (Invicta dive style chronograph).

Since joining the Crunch, I bought 4 watches that were over double that amount and a couple that were ~4x that amount. I also am now lusting after watches that cost ~80-100x that amount

So no, the Crunch doesn't make me want to buy more watches, necessarily. It makes me want to buy better (i.e., more expensive)watches.

·

For me, WatchCrunch helps me cope with my watch obsession, first of all, recognizing it as an obsession. I appreciate folks sharing their thoughts and struggles which helps me with mine.

·

It’s hard to not compare yourself to others. I have to remind myself that these are just things and really don’t matter. I know the pieces I want and if I eventually get them then great but if I don’t that’s okay too.

Great insight. I know this deep down, but it’s still hard to resist. And I don’t know if I’d ever spend the money for my grail watch, so the itch will either always be there, or I just have to accept having my fav watch out of what I can afford. Maybe I’ll get my grail when I retire lol. (Here is my grail: https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-seamaster-diver-300m-co-axial-master-chronometer-43-5-mm-21092442001003)

Yes indeed. Love a good vintage watch.

Don’t have IG. YouTube for sure does it to me. I’ve bought a watch before just from a teddy baldassarre review. My fav watch I have now is one that spoke to me with no outside influence. Those are the best ones IMO

Yes, I’m learning to be at peace with my collection like this. WC helps, but also when I see a killer watch, I can’t help but wonder. And then I can go down a rabbit hole. Then do the hard work to get out of the rabbit hole. What a dilemma 😂

·

Your not crazy, your just addicted like the rest of us!😅

·

Everything makes me want to buy more watches... 😂

·

It gives me ideas for the next watch but when I see them in person and try them on, usually I’m not interested.

·

Have seen a lot of watches I like to have here at WC. Either I can't afford a lot of them or they won't get worn much in my line of work. But still some get thru to my insensibility! What can I say??? 😕

As Meatloaf said “ You took the words right out of my mouth “ I have also been informed and influenced in the same way …

·

For me it does not. But seeing so many informed opinions from fellow watch enthusiasts does help in my watch collecting strategy. Without WC I would have just bought a bunch of entry level pieces instead of thinking of building a 3 watch collection that would reflect my style, taste and preferences. Thank you WC!

What he said!

Some days it feels like I am part of an alcoholics anonymous group with the only difference being they sell booze after each session! Cheers 🍻

·

For me it has the opposite effect

·

No, but Instagram is hell bc every watch photo is going to look killer with staging and perfect lighting.

Right on. I feel the same way. I would’ve had so many impulse buys if it wasn’t for here. I had a few and sold those off. I now take my time and engage here, which helps me make the best purchase decisions.

Would never be able to mix IG and love for watches 😂. Thankful I don’t have it

·

Honestly the opposite.

So many super nice watches that seem like a must have on YouTube, but here you see all sorts of photos taken by all sorts of people. These are awesome watches, but they are only watches.

·

Ah, yeah! Thanks WC lol

·

Haha.. Yes
